Today is 5/27/2024 & I have loved this song since 1984 when I was 14. I remember break dancing to this jam watching the video for the first time on MTV. It literally brings tears to my eyes. If GOd gives me another 54 years, I will break dance ( pop lock tic wave & tut) to this song like I am doing to this song right now. I still got it.
Corner!? Had this cued up in my basement -played it over and over - remember a crew from Brooklyn guys and girls kick or step dancing to this in a local club- totally in sync - WOW!
I'm 62. I remember this song like yesterday. Oh the memories of dancing the night away in the 80s. The Clubhouse DC, Paradise Garage NYC, Catch One, LA and all those small hole-n-the-wall places with the tiny dance floors. I miss those days long gone. But GRATEFUL that I have those memories. Much Love. 🌹 ❤
With all this so-called "modern technology" in music that they have TODAY, NOTHING compares to this sound from the 80's. Seems like they have the technology but LACK THE TALENT and CREATIVITY! 80's music ROCKS!!!
I am 54 and I still get the beat in my bones and do my break dance !! Yes I could wiggle my fingers and arms without pain. I miss these days dearly!!Thank you god for letting me live the life into the 80’s fever. 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@matthews.3812 No, it's not. Arthur Baker laid down Electro track beats. That's why Breakers got down to it. Check your ears. High energy is more fluff.
@@thomasbrown3356true but except no one called it electro at the time,it was just club music, was there at the Funhouse where these records got their first testing both Baker and Jellybean worked on these records and the crowd approval was mental,Jellybean played IOU about 3 times the first time,I was there underage teen of 14 years old.😂
The first time I heard this song, I heard it on 92WKTU with DJs: Paco Navarro, Carlos Dejesus, RIP Carlos: Al Bandiero, Joe Causi and Roscoe. Miss that station.
me too back in 1983/84 in Germany/Berlin Radio Station ....???? I still use it reg. for my long long running Workout Sessions Indoors/Outdoors incl. the instrumental Version...????? Not the stupid Piano/Farley House Rubbish...????? Always the Arthur Baker Version & the Latin Rascals.....??? Belongs to the 5 Best ever Electro Songs in History...????
Me emocioné al escuchar esta canción !!!! Recuerdo cuando mis amigos salían con la radio al hombro y ponían esta canción en casette, bailaban brake dance y todos le hacíamos rueda ....Que tiempos .....amo los 80's
And now We're in the future...8yrs since being upped... This killed at The FunHouse... I was there...Now in 2022... THIS BEAT STILL KICKS ASS!!! ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREATEST BREAK BEATS EVER!!! ROCK THE HOUSE FOREVER!!!
Yea it did ,I was there as underage teen when JB broke IOU in 82,I was 14 years old ,don’t know how they let me in😂that sound system was phenomenal with the tweeter arrays laying out those crisps highs, todays clubs sound system are mostly garbage
@@lr8621 Arthur Baker in an interview said John Rocca did pretty much the whole thing. He brought in the version he put together and then Arthur Baker barely made any changes. He gave John Rocca 100% credit for composition and arrangement.
This song hit number #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance /Club Play Chart on May 1984. John Rocca, was the lead vocalist and guitarist for the London, dance group, Freeez
Ahhhh i hear it now ...his high pitch in I.O.U ive been looking for this song for half my life literally🤣🤣🤣my mon used to play this music when i was a kid and it stuck wit me❤️i love freestyle/classics/house i always had this song stuck in my head since the 90s but never knew the name or artist😩😩😩i just happened to stumble across this today🙏🙏🙏
So happy that I grew up in an era with the best innovative dance music there ever was! From the early 80’s to the early 90’s is still the best dance music ever produced! Facts! Freestyle is why I became a DJ and still djing at 54! 😊❤️
This one is pretty bad ass!!!! Freeze's lead vocalist you know " a, a , e, I, o u and sometimes Y" you tell me that you love me everyday when we are alone I really feel in love when we are out with friends???? Dancing all around this room not a care in the world. All of mine already in place quiet a stronghold💋✨🌈💖
quiero que esto sea real !! tiempos que no volveran solo nos queda el recuerdo de los besos y aventuras en cada fiesta de curso y cuando se entraba a los video y nos hechaban para afuera por andar de escolar en horario de clases jejej
Johnny, the track IOU was by Freeez; John Rocca was in that band but this is his solo stuff. See also Once Upon a Time, another great solo track by John from the same album
Mate, you wouldn’t happen to know which mix this is? I’ve searched discogs but can’t find the mix that lasts this length. I know it was released in about 83/84 and then a load of new mixes in 87 with Farley involved but can’t work which version this is
This is the best music 80 s to the late 90 s party time club ing people hanging out going to movie s new years party s just have ing fun no covid no wild fires life was normal then
I remember when they use to play this on KROQ and CIRCUS DISCO in the heart of HOLLYWOOD. The dance music in the 80's was the best, nothing can compare now a days. TRASH!
Tee Scott tore a hole in this at Better Days the original 3 turntable disc jocley he had this on all 3 what don't sleep Tee used to RIP Zanzibar too he played this for about 20 minutes I was in a frenzy
Jellybean would test these tracks on the underage teens in the Funhouse on a flawless system before anyone else because he was the remixer/co producer,I’m certain Larry was the first to get a pressed record as JB would visit Larry after his gig at the Funhouse.🙌
This is a classic! In fact I've learned to play along. It starts with the key of F#m7 (only guitarists will understand) F#m7, G#m7, C#m7, just try to follow the tempo & the beat 😆
