Wow - I am ready to jump up and shout!!!! This was amazing - thankyou for such joy to have listened to this wonderful composition !! My heart is still pounding !!
B R A V O !!!!! This is by far the absolute best performance of this work EVER! I actually stood up from my chair and shouted BRAVO! Auf Deutsch: B R A V O !!!!! Dies ist bei weitem die absolut beste Aufführung dieses Werks aller Zeiten! Ich stand tatsächlich von meinem Stuhl auf und rief BRAVO!
Last week I was thinking about God. It had been a difficult time in my life. I turned this Gloria on and burst into tears, and then into sobs - I was so transported. This piece, the execution of the choir and orchestra and the magnificent leading of the conductor made this moment perfect. One I shall never forget. What can I say more? I was transported to cry out myself, “Gloria in excelsis Deo 🎶.” Isn’t that what music is to do for us??!!?? 💗
I' ve sung this only two times in public with my choir in october 2018 but it was one of my greatest musical memories and experiences so far! Great work! Great piece of music! 🎵🎶🧡 I literally love it!
Absolutely fantastic ❤️ Such a small choir with this performance, amazing 😇 I’m lucky enough to know how great this Gloria is from inside, from 2016 in Hungary 😊 The best piece of my life. And this is the best version on the Internet so far ❤️
Splendid performance! attention to detail, articulation, dynamics, excellent voices (clearly professional), "american" sounding brass, lots of electrolytes in the percussion. Special bravo to the BALANCE between brass and voices. Sounds almost like Rutter himself was conducting.
Even the MTC version (which is typically my standard for any choral piece) comes second to this one. I couldn't choose between either the choir or the orchestra because they were in what I call an escalating duel for beauty (and, so, they both win). As for that second movement, not taking one single thing away from the other two but... uff! Really well done WDR Klassik ❤ (P.S. I just loved the Nessun Dorma flashmob, too!)
Best version I've heard. Sung and played with so much sensitivity, and perfect attention to dynamics. The pianissimos were divine. Thank you for this amazing experience
Bravo to the chorus and the orchestra. I would also like to add a bravo for the conductor, Simon Halsey!. My chorus is preparing this beautiful piece for performance in a couple of weeks, so I have been watching different performances on RU-vid -- right now, paying particular attention to the conductor, to see how they handle all the tricky rhythms. Maestro Halsey is the clearest, most precise conducting I have seen yet. I can always tell exactly where he is and what he wants.
The Norwich Cathedral will be performing this next Sat the 11th Nov, my So is doing the Boy-Treble Solo, as He is also doing the Solo in the Chichester Psalms
Beautiful - Dynamic - Gloriously moving performance. Simon Halsey's conducting was impressive. I have participated in orchestras and choirs. He was very engaged in conducting the performance and easy to follow exhibiting more interest in conducting effectively than flamboyantly waving his arms .
No. 1 the only selection I've performed, but know the whole composition recording under the direction of Rutter conducting The Cambridge Singers. Always an excellence in his works. His Manificat is a fave too.
Definitive recording (what else would you expect from Simon Halsey/Rundfunkchor?!) So rare to hear this with the full orchestration...vastly superior to the brass/organ version!
I cannot get enough of this - such high intensity and triumph is what you feel and hear throughout this whole piece - my heart is still pounding- I just love thus !! And All parties involved brought such joy and perfection to this piece - thankyou so much - !!!
