Cal t jaders lyrics are so universal like invitation.Mongo Santamaria did lots of those melodies of afrocuban rithms with cal and some I admire Santos especially with Orestes Vilato.
So basically, you play whatever you want! That's liberating. When I started studying Cuban rhythms, there were all these rules with the clave. Sounded like a real drag to have to plain the same thing over and over for every song.
@@AlexeyKamen You must admit it is rather strange....virtually every top conguero i have seen on YT and live has been wearing a hat of some description....???? I, Too play the congas(Luis Conte Artist Series by Meinl.....and I wear a hat....sometimes....:-)
@@blairmacewancrosbie8646 I've been a gigging percussionist for many years. Mainly djembe and cajon, but I play congas as well. Except for when I'm playing in a church, I always wear a pork pie hat, fedora or newsboy cap when I play in public. There are at least three reasons why. First, I'm completely bald and hats look nicer than my bald head in addition to protecting it from the elements. Second, the kind of hats I wear lend a dressy, gentlemanly vibe; they're a great way to top off a look like what John Santos is rocking with his dress shirt. Third, there are so many guys who wear baseball caps nowadays- I'm on an unofficial mission to buck that trend. Of course, the fact that I happen to look good in my type of hats (numerous people have told me so, even strangers) doesn't hurt either. Bottom line: put a lid on it if you want. If you don't, don't.
