@@johnm249 Yeah there's a lot of BS going on, if anyone thinks that "blacks lives don't matter" to my mind they win th Darwin award for stupidity, in saying that History is History..People that don't know history are destined to make the same mistakes as their ancestors.. Are these same people that are demanding century old monuments be teared down aware that the Prophet Muhammad was all about slave trading, are the about to start tearing down Mosques?

I am very saddened by our treatment of First Australian soldiers, seamen & airmen that fought to preserve our country. It should have been the catalyst of a great union of men & women, black & white, for we are many and we are one... God Bless you all my dear comrades, I love you all for your effort & sacrifice

v 1: Ghosts and memories are loitering still in the corridors of time There's sorrow, smoke, and stories in the barracks of my mind I'm with him still in the trenches, I can see his dark, brown eyes And his courage gave me courage when I was sure we were going to die I asked him once why he volunteered for that hellhole far away To fight for someone else's king and the land they took away He said, "One invading mob's too many" and then he walked away And I lost him in the crowds waving flags on the side of the road - like every Anzac Day V 2: From Murray Bridge and Mundrabilla, from Naracoote and Perth First Australian station hands, shearers, gangers, clerks... And there was no black, there was no white, just a dirty khaki brown And on our upturned slouch hat brims, we all wore the "Rising Sun" Soldiers, brothers, all Australians, we had no time for race When the bullets are whining past your head, you're all just shades of grey He kept his medals in their box in a drawer - he tucked them well away But he'd pull them out and put them on and put them back again - on every Anzac Day Every Anzac, every Anzac, every Anzac Day - on every Anzac Day Armentieres and Flanders, Tarin Kowt and Salamau-Lae Amiens and Morotai, Long Tan, Dispersal Bay Somalia, Crete and Kapyong, Iraq and the Solomons Paschendaele, Maprik and Tarakan - they were there - the first Australians V 3: And when the show was over and we made it back to Australia's shores From Pozieres and Herleville Wood, Benghazi and Fremicourt We drifted back into our lives, and we all tried to hide the scars Of the tears and fears and terrors that still tracked us down the years He tried to join the RSL but the bastards wouldn't let him in They didn't see a soldier, just a first Australian And I wonder what it was that we fought for and what it was we gave away There's reconciliation still to come - on every Anzac Day Every Anzac, every Anzac, every Anzac Day - on every Anzac Day Coda: So when the sun sets in the evening, when the dawn lights up the sky We remember those first Australians, who joined and fought and died From the missions, bush and station country, towns and Torres Straits We remember the fighting First Australians - now - and on every Anzac Day Every Anzac, every Anzac, every Anzac Day - on every Anzac Day, on Every Anzac Every Anzac, every Anzac, every Anzac Day - on every Anzac Day, on Every Anzac On every Anzac Day

In Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, it is believed that when someone passed away, their soul should be left to rest. I'm pretty sure that images of the deceased person can be offensive, or worry the viewer. That's what I've heard at least

But you are of white skin as I am I have lived in the bush with the people and you and I would not survive 2 days in that environment but they did. As for the no record of there history you need to reed the rock drawings as I have with help and eat some bugs check out Burke and wills they didn’t make it and I have been to the tree that they carved there name in Burketown I would love to meet you and change your thinking cheers shane Johnson nz

How many Aboriginals served in WW1? This panders to a disproportionate number of first Australians who were supposedly badly treated. I don't see many German New Guineans nor German Samoans complaining about coming under the British Crown nearly 110 years later. The Australians for one weren't conscripted but this business over reconciliation does it take into consideration how many Maoris out of the just over 3000 native born New Zealanders complained about their treatment or service in the AIF in World war 1? Incidentally the last count was 14 Maori soldiers.

So, members of Redgum, Midnight Oil and Goanna come together record a song about the proud history of Australia's Aboriginal servicemen and women and the shameful way they were treated for so long... but because you have issues with the white guy who happened to be chief of army at the time you reckon it "smells of shit"??? Mate, check your own undies for skidmarks- I reckon ya might've dropped a shart...
@digihed1
@digihed1 7 лет назад
I have to say, I was proud as punch to be asked to make this filmclip and participate in the recognition of a long ignored group of servicemen and women. For a long term Redgum fan and former member of the Australian Army, this was a dream come true. I don't give two hoots which General directed that money and resources be made available, the fact is a debt of honour was being addressed. And when a Chief of Army gives that Army a boot in the arse, there is usually a good reason. As there was in the case of General Morrison. The only shit I can smell is on TheMilkman83's liver...
