He pulls this stunt pretty much every volume; you can basically assume whoever the guy on the cover is actually Shadow. By the time Cid actually reveals himself to be Shadow, no one will buy it because of the dozens of other personas that already revealed themself to be Shadow. It will get to the point where people will just assume any strong guy is actually Shadow in disguise, or that they all live in the Matrix and Shadow is Agent John Smith.
He doesn't nerf himself per se, he's good with pretty much any weapon, and according to the novel, his specialty and main combat strat is straight up with his bare hands
This john smith guy seems really strong but cid is definitely stronger. Though we've never seen both of them on screen at the same time yet once thats happens itll be a slug fest.
@penileymajorey7174 because Misogoshi made a bunch of enemies with the other merchants (Including Diablo cult) so Cid is planning on destroying Misogoshi and the merchants (cult including but he doesnt know) then rebuild and rebrand it with better countermeasures against enemies. And also because its Cid, he did say he was going to reclaim what was his (he wants to own the company even though he does technically own it XD)
Because he is dumb in many things outside of battle. He things Mitsugoahi and girls are taking his wisdom he told them about, and make money from it, for themself. When in actuallity all of the money are to his disposure, if he asks. He thinks Mitsugoshi is weak and he wants to destroy it and remade to have it for his disposal, for the money.
I think taking mitsugoshi down a peg or two by shadow himself could be considered a disciplinary measure to remind shadow garden that their main goal wasn't to become another cult like conglomerate but to destroy the existing one.
loving this story technique of having OP change personas in each arc and mess with everyone, not just the bad guys. hella smart way to keep things FRESH in an isekai/fantasy series!
As a manga reader I am really mostly enjoying the adaptation, specifically the wholesomeness of delta but it feels like it is going pretty fast, and I can’t wait to see John smith’s next two battles
Such as Steam, almost all of their competition is utter garbage or just outclassed entirely. (Except for GOG and maybe 1 or 2 more.) Heck, some people even say Steam is the only Monopoly they'd actually support.
@@willblack8575Monopoly doesn't extend to just the creation. It includes sales and consumption too. Apple is not a monopoly since it competes with Android and the various companies that utilize it, such as Samsung and Google.
He is also taking Mitsugoshi underground. Remember he is trying to maintain the "from the shadows" vibe. Mitsugoshi is getting to much exposure and at some point someone is gonna connect it to Shadow Garden.
Cid takes everything he does so seriously when he is in his persona's and because his power is so overwhelming is is impossible for anyone other than us to see how unaware of the actual events going on around him that he really is but that is one of the thing i one love about this show

@@DB-zo5fj When Shadow appears it is always a spectacle because he plans every moment of his entrance, fight or performance as Shadow and most of the time his exit.. sometimes, but it's always epic because he takes it seriously imo
IDK why it wouldn't get a thrid season. It's a hilarious show with great action bits. Unless people just start liking more slice of life stuff out of nowhere, this has no reason to not keep going.

@@Gration_ To be honest i was expecting more off the action bits, the fight vs the vampire queen was short and "meh" in my opinion, there where nice additions like the one from the witch of calamity, but still it was too short and alot of static images, the shadow part i preferred much more the manga.I hope they can delivered better action scenes, the rest is good, i like the slice of life, comedy and lore parts.
Agree, there's not much sakuga but the direction is insane. They squeeze every ounce of quality out of their budget. They could really use more frames because everything else is fantastic.
Based of the sales of the 6th volume it looks like it will. The LN has only become more and more popular. A positive sign for any anime. This plus the more eyes on the show the more merch get sold (considering 90% of the cast is hot women) I am sure the plublisher, the anime studio, and the producers are definitely in for a 3rd season
Thing is, the paper money of our society today IS what it used to be back a decade ago. They were only meant to be IOUs for gold and silver, an idea brought out by Nixon and continued by the people in charge after. For many of the banks today, they probably don't have enough gold and silver to compensate everyone but we won't know that because its been like this for so long.
Not exactly cut content since the anime is going off of the light novel. This arc has the biggest difference from the web novel and light novel. The reason for this is the Cid in the webnovel is 100% okay with burning Mitsukoshi to the ground because as far as he is concerned the girls have stolen enough from him and that needs correcting. However the fan base reaction was very unhappy with this. So when the light novel came out it was corrected to what we see in the anime, where Cid fully plans on rebuild the Mitsukoshi replacement from the ashes with the girls.
What's makes this ridiculous, is that _everything including Mitsukoshi is his_ !!! It's his black hole like denseness in these matters that gives the series it's comedy. But boy, at times does Cid comes off like a jerk.
What the girls started is called Fractional Reserve Banking. It’s how modern banks actually function. They keep a percentage of your investment at the bank, and then they invest the rest of it back into the economy. This is how banks as a business make money. The idea is to have lots of people depositing money at your bank so that no matter if a few people pull their money out, they will have enough to cover it without issue. This is the money people get when they get a bank loan. They also use it to invest in the stock market.
Ah, more Eminence in Shadow content to combat my withdrawal symptoms. I kinda wish that we would have gotten the fight from the manga compared to the anime one, though I like both versions.
FUN FACT: John Smith's Japanese VA is Lelouch from Code Geass, another Mecha anime male protagonist next to Mundaine Mann who is voiced by Heero Guy from Gundam Wing.

I like how Cid/John lays out exactly how fiat is a scam. Given how Cid is from Japan, where government debt is reaching very dangerous levels, he’d certainly know.
You compare the anime to modern finance, business, and consumer protection laws that were built over roughly century plus (we still modify and add to them) in response to business and finance crisis, credit/bank runs, and abuse. The Mitsugoshi company in this anime is basically operating in the era of 1870 to 1900 (before protections started to come in) in the United States that had rapid industrial and economic growth with big business, banks, stock markets, cartels, monopolies etc that went to the fullest max of influence (and arguably abuse/greed). During this time, there were a number of financial crises and bank runs occurred. Also it wasn't until the American Civil War that a central federal paper currency was used. Prior to 1860 each bank (or group of banks) would issue their own paper money to be used at related banks and businesses etc. and the central government would only issue coins.
I dont really agree with breach of antitrust laws. Mitsugoshi grew on its own, they had unique products (like cocoa beans, coffee, fashionable clothes), higher quality products and entered market in right moment, what allowed them to grow rapidly. (think of it like coca-cola or microsoft) but they became threat to other merchants or Gettan and his plan. tho with our current law Mitsugoshi bank and company would be forced to split as that is not allowed
I would have prefered the manga/light novel battle with John Smith, but the rest I feel is fine because I dont really want to deep dive into the economics of _this_ anime.
Monopolies are allowed, you just aren't allowed to use them in an anti-competitive behavior. A good example is Microsoft, having a monopoly with Windows was perfectly ok, but using it to push their other products like IE and Windows Media Player. What MCA is doing OTOH would likely be illegal, and likely to violate the US anti-trust laws (if this was the US).

Out of Mundane man and john smith, who would win? I think although John Smith has a lot of battle experience and can control the space around mundane man, mundane man would be way too fast for John Smith to react to. Moreover its over for John Smith if he finds Mundane man in an open field.

no. antitrust laws do not work like that. 1.) we are assuming patents so in a society like that they'd get at least 20 years of monopoly for a product they brought to the market. 2.) antitrust laws are a joke.

Anti-trust laws are not about making monopolies illegal. They aren't. What the laws are intended to do is prevent monopolies forming or being maintained due to anti-competitive, illegal means. A monopoly that results from superior products at superior prices is perfectly legal. A company using its monopoly in one area to dominate another area of business would probably be considered illegal though.
Even today notes in the real world are just tolkens for real money. On British Pound notes it still says "I promise to pay the bearer on demand the sum of x pounds".
so i have one question, after the John Smith arc, did Cid finally realize that the whole Shadow Garden thing is real and girls are taking it seriously? because in season 1 Cid was sure that they were just entertaining his delusions and pitying him. one of the reasons this whole secret agent arc started was because Cid thought that the girls were stealing his ideas to get rich and he got jealous. he even stole from them one time in season 1, thinking that the money they gathered wasnt his too. also during the train fights Cid is not there, only John Smith. so why would the girls still roleplay as shadow garden members if the guy they are trying to entertain isnt present
It's something that happens to serve his interest and just as easily discarded. Shadow Garden is just the current arrangement of talent and they could easily be repurposed into another arrangement with no change in personnel.

Correction, they would not fall under ANTITRUST LAWS because other people do have the opportunity to try to make the same items as them. Thus the knockoff however, they don't have the technology or ability to do so at such a high quality That's why you get a lot of cheap knock offs as opposed to good quality equivalent items other companies have the option to make the good quality equivalent items. But they don't have the ability to Is the wood need to have a conglomerate of companies working together to create all the parts to have an equivalent hi quality item as opposed to MITSUGOSHI who is a conglomerant of companies in different industries.

Wish the show was just about Shadow Garden..Cid crap seems like a completely different show..One I'm not interested in. He's the most annoying character with stupid motivations...every scene he's in is a step back...Hell I would rather have watch what Delta is doing for the rest of the season rather than follow Cid around.

I really loved the episodes portraying a credit society as it showed what can happen to our society and not enough people are aware of the fact.
