When i was in high school, Bob Gibbons top scout was a man named Bob Smith. I remember going to Victory Christian Center back in 98-99. We began the season number 3 in the Sweet 16 behind Mount Zion and West Charlotte and had the number 1 high school schedule in the nation after Bob Smith made a preseason visit to our school. The Sweet 16 was the top 16 teams in both North Carolina and South Carolina combined back then. One day we were pulled out of school to have a showcase for Bob Smith. The purpose was for him to rank me and 3 of my friends from Newark, NJ that transferred to Victory for a prep year and also to see where he would suggest we be ranked in the sweet 16. The team was pulled out of school around 1pm and played a few games for ole boy. After the showcase, even he eluded to Bob Gibbons being a hater/bias. My man Walter Harris had been down there for a year already and was the number 2 point guard in the state behind Scooter McFadgon. Everybody, and I mean everybody believed Walt was the number 1 pg in the state at the time. But because we were from Newark and not North Carolina, Bob Gibbons would not rank Walt number 1. Bob Smith said, Bob loves Walter, but he just couldn’t rank him number 1 over a kid that had played his entire life in the state. This was after Walt played in Bob Gibbons for the Charlotte Royals up in the triangle and dominated Majestic Mapp, Kenny Satterfield, Terrence Woods and a few other cats. I heard from Bob Gibbons supposedly right hand in so many words, that he was bias. So John Wall ain’t lying.

Johns my favorite player so it may be bias, but to me he’s definitely slightly underrated from a historical standpoint. I had hoped he pick up the Hall Of Fame trajectory pre Achilles but it doesn’t seem like it. He was a HOF guy in DC no doubt the numbers speak for themselves he just needed another 3-6 good years get to 6-8 All stars and he’d be a lock.
