This really is such a simple movie - yet it also HAS GOT IT ALL! _LOVE ROMANCE DRAMA COMEDY ACTION REDEMPTION🎭_ + MUST HAVE _HAPPY ENDING!_ i believe i even caught a sermon somewhere in there! Mr Wayne sure knew how to pick ‘em! 🤟🏼🕊️💕
I love seeing old movies; a bit hokey by today's standards where men are the dumb weaklings and the women are the strong 'heroes'. Nice to be reminded of a time when men were strong, and wild, and fierce.....yet the love of a good woman saves them from themselves. Charming.
Porque vcs não postam estes filmes antigos em português, ótimos filmes antigos tem que ser em vários endiomas,⁉️ fica a dica parabéns pelo seu trabalho Bay Bayyyy 🤘✌️🤙👍👈👉💪👍
I loved this movie for many years not knowing about the tragic life and death of Gail Russell. I blame her parents and Hollywood. I'll never watch it again. R.I.P. Gail Russell
You might blame others, but SHE has to take some responsibility for HER own choices. No one forced her to turn to alcohol. HER choice. It is not the fault of other people when we choose how to react to life.....
I prefer the black and white version although the colorization does makes the scenery pop. I think my main issue with the colorization is that they got Gail's eye color wrong. She had ice blue eyes, not brown :(
@@doganyildirim12 Yes. Seems she was extremely shy and acting caused her severe anxiety. Sadly, another actor gave her alcohol to calm her nerves and it took over her life. She died fairly young :(
@@tessa5234 yes and i heard that gail was in love with john wayne and she want t marry him.but john didin't want to marry her and that was big heartbreak for her.again very sad story.i hope she is now in better place
Angel and the Bad Man, a great tale of a gunman landing in a Quaker community like a fish out of water, who finds a new sense of humanity during this time. This may be the best Western that John Wayne ever made at Republic Pictures. Keep in mind that at this point in Wayne's career, he was a bona fide Hollywood A-Lister but was still under contract at Republic, the very studio that he made many B-Westerns for in the 1930s. However, John Wayne could now use his clout to negotiate for stronger scripts and higher production values of an A-List level for any movies he would do for Republic, and also give him the ability to go star in movies for any other studio he wanted to. This was a very beneficial relationship for both Wayne and Republic as Wayne could go star in some genuine masterpieces for other studios in the 1940s like They Were Expendable and Fort Apache while still being Republic's biggest star, and when he did make a movie at Republic, they were now of a higher quality than his B-Movie days. Angel and the Bad Man is the perfect example of what I just explained. I think it's a great early anti-hero role for Wayne predating his later characters in The Searchers and True Grit. It's a great fish out of water story of a rogue gunman who finds himself wounded in a Quaker community, then begins to change his violent ways after spending time with the Quakers while being nursed back to health by Gail Russell's character and falling in love with her. Gail is definitely one of the most underrated actresses of her era. Her role in Seven Men From Now (1956) alongside Randolph Scott and Lee Marvin is another great one. This also significantly features a large supporting role for Harey Carey Sr, who was a huge star of the silent era and the first muse of director John Ford in his silent westerns like Straight Shooting in 1917. Harey Carey Sr. was also a mentor and idol for John Wayne and this was one of several movies they starred in the 1940s together, the last being Red River, which Harey Carey Sr. would pass away soon after making. Of course, the son of Harey Carey Sr, Harey Carey Jr, would go on to be one of the greatest character actors of his era. And Bruce Cabot, the hero of the original King Kong (1933), plays the main heavy in this one. If the story sounds vaguely familiar to anyone that has seen Witness (1985), which starred Harrison Ford as a detective on the run who finds himself wounded in an Amish community like a fish out of water, where he gains a new sense of humanity spending time with the Amish while being nursed back to health by a woman he falls in love with, that's because Witness is essentially a remake of Angel and the Badman, just brought to the 1980s and replacing the Quakers with the Amish. Although another great classic film about Quakers, Friendly Persuasion (1956), starring Gary Cooper was also an inspiration. This was the first collaboration between John Wayne and screenwriter James Edward Grant, who also directed this film as well. They would later make several more films including classics like Sands of Iwo Jima and McLintock. And also Hondo (1953), whose title character's name of Hondo Lane was inspired by the name of one of the bad guys in this film, watch out for the trigger happy gunman that Wayne almost gets into a shootout with in a tense showdown in the Quaker household. Yakima Canutt, legendary stuntman/coordinator and longtime friend of Wayne since the B-Movie days, was the second unit director on this and you can tell by the well-done action sequences throughout the film. Johnny Cash was a fan of John Wayne and liked this movie so much that in 1991, he wrote and sang a song inspired by it, named after the movie, Angel and The Badman. Great song, give it a listen if you can. This was also more traditionally remade in 2009 under the same title, with Lou Diamond Phillips in the lead role, and featured Brendan Wayne(John's grandson) in a small role, who now doubles as The Mandalorian for Pedro Pascal in the hit Star Wars series. Angel and the Badman is my personal favorite 1940s Western that John Wayne made not directed by John Ford or Howard Hawks. It's a legitimate classic and a great movie. Thanks so much, Cult Cinema Classics!
This colorized version sure turned out great. I’ve seen this before & this is the first movie I saw Gail Russel. She is such a beauty. I love house the Duke melts for her.

Una película muy buena siempre la vuelvo la tengo en formato DVD y créanme lo guardo como un tesoro grande John Wayne y la hermosa Gail Rusell una actriz muy bella
I don't know if it is you tube or what but with the volume at 100% it is almost impossible to hear. Even with external speakers turned up all the way, it is difficult to hear.
Every time we watched a John Wayne film I would always tell my kids its a true story. They once believed me, now I tell my grandchildren and I see my daughters smile. Live goes on and "The Duke goes on forever."
I tell ya. What man would give up a life of adventure, gambling. drinking etc and sleeping where ever (mostly outside). What man would give that up for that sweet little honey and her comfy lifestyle. She is a peach. I guess this is a romcom?
_Aww, my dearest Helen from my heart! The story of Quirt Evans is really great, an amazing western from 76 years ago, where The Duke & Gail Russel live together a great Love story! I heard she never wanted to be in the movies, her mother forced her int it w/guilt, she found that a shot of booze calmed her nervousness on set, after that she became an alcoholic. Yes, it was very sad.
Red Cross would resemble if a Real One replaced it's Spirit if not Florence Nightingale sang in all World's Wars lest without any wounded Peace Makers of crossfires still likely either on each side?!
Seen this stupid movie so many times and still can't resist watching it. That "New Rope" line always gets me along with Penny's pretty eyes... Love Angel and the Bad Man🥰
