They actually do passport control. If you look at Gate 13 &14 (you are starting right at them behind the frosted glass when you approached Terminal C at 4:49) they have sterile corridors leading to immigration, baggage claim for internationals, and customs. You can see them even more clearly if you happen to have a flight departing from one of those gates. It is behind frosted glass at lower level baggage claim and there are doors that are "no entry" that have customs. They are only for Mexico flights since Canada flights have pre-clearance at the origin airport.
Nice airport tour. Thanks, Dear Chris for sharing. I appreciate you for all your efforts you make on all your informative videos. Best always to you! & family. 🙏🪷❤
I've lived in L.A. my entire life, yet I've never flown into or out of John Wayne Airport. I avoid LAX whenever possible, so I usually fly out of Burbank, Long Beach or Ontario. I'm not avoiding OC, but I guess the flight offerings just haven't met my particular needs. Thanks, as always, for the informative video, Chris!
Love your channel! I just moved to Huntington Beach this year. Already learned it's worth it to spend more money and miles on United just to fly out of SNA and connect in SFO over driving to LAX :) Keep up the great work
I ❤️ SNA!!! If we can get our flight out of PAE instead of SEA and go to SNA, our trip is a WIN! When we stay at our aunt's house on Newport Beach, we always know when it's time to wake up because the planes start taking off and the sea lions start barking. 😄
Hi Chris. Thanks for the informative walk thru. I can understand why you and many other travelers prefer John Wayne. I wouldn't mine paying a little more to avoid the hassles of LAX. Take care.
I love it there. It’s 10 minutes from house . It’s better than going to LAX. I use it when I go to Europe . I just get a layover somewhere else in the country
This is our local airport, love to always fly to or from here- limited international flights. Noise requirement, I agree , does turn my stomach a bit when they do their sharp ascend. There’s a rip curl outlet 10 mins drive from airport, don’t buy your surfing stuff from airport. Great airport
That looks like a very nice airport. I'll have to consider flying in here whenever I get a chance to visit Orange County or the LA area. I didn't realize until just now that there are nonstop flights from Detroit to Orange County with Delta!
Nice video Chris! We just got back from John Wayne. It was so early I didn’t have a chance to walk around. I had no idea they were opening up a bordard. Your video was in March. I wonder if that restaurant opened yet. I also agree I would much rather have an in and out instead of McDonald’s.
I fly out of SNA all the time for domestic flights. I'm 15 minutes away, so paying extra is a nob brainer if I get to avoid the congested waste land LA has become.
Great video like always but you totally miss the pet relief area. Since working at SNA always walk down to Delta and American security checkpoint since it's the less busy than the others. That's my 2 cents of information and if you don't park at main street you can park at the south cover parking lot and you won't have alot of traffic to deal with. Thank you for your information and videos.
I wish its not so expansive flying out from John Wayne because I live like 10 min from the airport. I love flying out of it because its so easy but i have to do LAX many times because some tickets are even half the price of John Wayne which is crazy. Like the other day I need to fly to Philly this Nov for family visit and John Wayne ticket is $560 round trip per person while LAX is like $260
I will be flying into SNA to Disneyland in California. It is way better than buffalo airport and Orlando Florida. Because in Orlando airport it is always very busy there
Ok, so if we have a 6:45 board, they have to wait until 7:00 to fly because of the noise ordinances? A couple behind me was complaining the whole time because they had to wait the 15 minutes
Great video. I have a question,my family and I are flying on southwest and will be taking a Lyft to our hotel. Is it easy to get to the pickup area from the baggage claim area?
Yes John Wayne IS the way to go in Southern CA. The only THING, the TSA are VERY aggressive and ENJOY patting people down and "checking people out" in the scanning machine.
Didn't have that problem myself a couple of weeks ago, but they did find a Leatherman multi tool i had forgotten in my carry-on - oops! The agent was very cool about it, even suggesting that since security was quiet i could go out, check it as checked luggage, and come back through! Sorry to hear you had a bad experience - hope you reported it!
This video was interesting and sad to watch, because I was looking at the majority of the people that were flying out of that airport, and I was wondering was it because of the prices which keep a certain group of people away, also I was struck by the comment about airplanes must keep quiet flying over affluent homes, and the types of restaurants in that terminal, I have been to John Wayne airport ONCE since living here and it seems NOTHING has changed.
Planes cutting their engines as they fly over the rich peoples houses, just to appease them and meet the noise abatement rule?! That sounds dangerous! I flew out of and into this airport once. I remember it being very bright and clean.
