+IndoChannelKhanRP I can't decide whether to love or hate (but not really) Mr.'s Speilberg and Williams for that movie and that score. Especially if I realize,"I have to take a shower" or "I have to run to the bathroom". That's worse because there's not a whole lot of choice in the matter. Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) was so right when he said, "It's all psychological." And it is. Properly, sharks cannot fit into bathtubs, or shower drains. Nor will they come up through toilet plumbing. But rational thought and sharks don't go together. You hear the word SHARK along with that music and it's all primal.
Giant Giant I generally shower but I can't get near a body of water for a good hour after hearing that score. And I'm scared to death of drinking anything (iced tea, pop, Frappucino, whatever) during the flic, for fear I'll have to go to the bathroom. Mayor Vaughn was right, it IS psychological! That score goes to the very core of fear. Even people who never saw the movie would jump at a certain point in the main theme. I remember one Jaws doc where someone said that if he played the music in a gazeebo on a beach, there'd be a mass exodus out of the water.
Unfortunately the year I saw this, I was holidaying with my grandmother who lives by the sea. So that was a summer spent swimming in the bath tub :P Didn't help that there was an actual shark sighted in the bay on the other side of the peninsular!
As the song begins, the surface of the ocean begins to break, revealing a large dorsal fin of a monstrous Great White Shark. The beast finds a young girl swimming in the early hours of the morning, the girl begins to struggle & screaming at the top of her lungs. She tries to shake herself free of the monster's gaping maw but to no avail. The shark drags her under as the ocean turns red. June the 28th of 19 hundred & 75
People generally assume that the JAWS theme is a simple two-note tune, but this is quite a layered piece with a lot of complexities going on throughout.
This man is just brilliant, a musical genius.. period. Thank you Mr Williams for making movies so memorable, without your music they just would not exist..❤️
Oh come on people, don’t get yourselves in a lot of trouble, you can get arrested for doing something awful like that, just warning you for your safety.
@@p0dkk39 Yes bro, different. You're telling me that Jaws, Superman, star wars, Jurassic park and every other amazing tune written by him sounds the same?
The musical score of Jaws is so incredible, and it plays such a big part in the movie. The music starts slow, and it increases in intensity as you can suspect that the shark is nearby or approaching. The eerie music mixed with the camerawork is tension and suspense at its finest. Jaws is as one of the very few movies where the music alone can scare the audience, and no other movie really does that quite as well
menslady125 And there's some shark poachers that liked. You can't take that out of the picture either. Most shark poachers were influenced by this movie.
I am totally in love with Jaws, especially the main theme that they play here. This might sound crazy to some people, but I have seen this movie 43 times so far! It's one of those films that I can watch over and over again without getting bored. This amazing music is a huge reason why! The number of times I watch it during a year varies, but I always watch it on the 4th of July.
Richard Martin Agreed, we should try watching a blockbuster that had only the visuals and the narative....no sound track....it would be literally HALF a movie !!
I remember being obsessed with Jaws when I was in the 6th grade, and watching this and being amazed that the music is just so powerful and full of fear when you think that sharks are dangerous, I still think Jaws is amazing 👏 John Williams is a legend who does a amazing job at orchestras for the most recognized movies ever!✨️
Isn't it incredible that a bunch of human beings playing compatible instruments in unison can make the human brain feel such intense emotions? This gave me goosebumps in all sorts of ways
How can 420 people dislike this... it's John Williams, live, conducting JAWS with the Boston pops.... what's NOT to like.... what the hell is wrong with people out there!
With each note of the six double basses and with each beat of the percussion I relived every second of emotion from that distant year of 1975 when I saw the film on the edge of the cinema seat ... 45 years ago!
This movie sucks and is causing an unbearably horrible impact on the environment I think the only person on earth who would like this movie is a psychopath.
IT was Never the Damn Shark it was the Song playing in your head while you was in the WATER ..STILL SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF ME BUT NO ONE CAN TOUCH THIS MAN FOR THE GREATEST MUSIC FOR CINEMA
There is omly ONE way to fully appreciate JAWS, you have to see it in a theater. Watching it on tv doesn't do it justice. I saw it when it came out in1975 and to those of you who were not alive back then, people did not go in the water, that's how much fear gripped everyone. It was a game changer.
The audience reaction to hearing one note is testimony to the immediate identification people have with Williams' theme for Jaws. A simple two note intro conveys a feeling of impending danger. Brilliant composer of memorable scores like Superman, Schindler's List, Indiana Jones films, Star Wars and more.
One of my all-time favorite movies, and, yes, it's very scary in places, but I love the actors--all of them--especially the three guys on the boat, and how those three guys especially put their own wit into the dialogue. And the music. It's great fun to see all those instruments playing the music I'm used to hearing in the movie or on CD. JAWS was the first John Williams OST I bought and it remains one of my favorites of his scores, just as JAWS is one of my favorites of Spielberg's movies.
That was nervous laughter from the audience at the start. I always get a feeling of cold sea water up to my neck when I listen to this. I watched this movie on its first outing in London UK. And people just went crazy in the auditorium. Actually on the edge of their seats with hands over eyes. At the end they stood up and cheered! You dont see that level of enthusiasm these days and the amazing score played a big part in the films success.
Why did the crowd laugh ? 1st & 2 notes bought a tear to the eye. To hear this live would be gold. And Spielberg laughed when he 1st heard it. The most recognizable movie score ever made. Would be even better to hear it played on Martha's Vineyard for the JAWS 50th Anniversary. JAWS Rulz.🦈🦈🦈
i worked in an insanely busy NYC ER as a nurse before during and after our ghoulish first wave of covid. there is no song than this that better describes what working in march-april 2020 truly felt like. and for that i am permanently grateful to john williams
I feel like a huge amount of why this score is awesome is how it builds. It starts out simple, two notes. Then it slowly but surely adds new themes and parts in eventually building to a crescendo. But underneath it all is the same two notes driving the piece forward. In that way, I think it was perfect for the nature of the shark they portrayed, that of a creature that thrives in a habitat that no human could survive very long in. And once you enter that habitat, it's only a matter of time until it gets you. In a way, the music reflects the mounting sense of panic and desperation as the protagonists are slowly but surely stripped of all ideas, and then weapons. Finally, at the climax, there is nothing left, but one man desperately clinging to the mast of a sinking ship, shooting and praying that he might be granted a miracle to defeat the monster that has plagued him and his town.
It's amazing how this piece of music inspires dread and a feeling of overwhelming helplessness. John Williams literally puts you into the path of the shark. Genius!!!
Zoff so weird. My dad just brought you a case of beer in a kayak on the caloosahatchee. Then I randomly search "Jaws theme orchestra" and you're the top comment? This world is strange.
That's the main tune to "The Amity Theme", I believe. It's inclusion here gives the menacing intro direction. In this case the melodic tunes of what an idealistic sleepy sea side town might sound like before the seasonal onslaught of tourists (in case of the Amity Theme itself). Or, as in this case an onslaught of a very different kind.
Sir John Williams showed how only two notes can create terror and phobia in your mind ! It's just a matter of E n F or F and F# . HUGE RESPECT from INDIA 🇮🇳 ...
In those days, the movie theaters let you "taste" the entire audience's feelings about the film, that were your own feelings too. There was a bunch of people in a room, laughing, screaming, crying and sharing their lives. :)
I never really thought before how well the theme captures the idea of a killer shark - it's ominous and aggressive but also machine-like and impersonal - the shark isn't evil or malicious, it's just a predator doing what predators do.
The Jaws theme still chills my spine - even without the movie showing up! And I can still see that shark swimming (or stalking) through the orchestra pit!
