Overall very well built machine especially frame and body wise, excellent suspension but, shifters tend to jamb often, carburetors can be touchy, head gasket can blow out, slightly underpowered especially in 4 passenger models, ideally better drivetrain in this body chassis and it would be a real winner.
Just wait until the emergency brake cable snaps ( happens all the time ) wait until the shifter jams in gear ( all the time ) wait for cold weather and the shifter cables freeze ( all the time ) and the big one is the head gaskets all blow between 40 and 150 hours. JUNK and John deere knows it. Google it, read up on the forums.
Junk? Hmmmm, I bought my XUV 550 new in 2016 to use on the farm. Lots of stopping on the hills and never broke the e brake cable. Never had a blown head gasket. Never had the shifter cable freeze here in Michigan. Never had the drive train worked on. I carry a 30 gal sprayer to spray around the pasture and checking on the cows, etc. 437 hours now, never needed ANY parts or repairs. Granted it's not the best built 4 wheeler but the price was 9 g not 12 g or more. Maybe treating it gently instead of forcing the controls keeps it trouble free.
@@jefffrayer8238 Yup, its junk. I own many pieces of equipment, excavators, tractors, commercial boat, dump trucks ect. I know how to treat stuff so it will last. The cables have been replaced with jonh deere parts, first winter it worked, next one, nope. Freezes the cables on cold days. Second emergency brake cable,John deere as well, broke. Its junk. has under 200 hours now, just waiting for the head gaskets to blow again. Clutch sticks, jambs in gear. Its a great piece.
They are a piece of crap. I've got one with 48 hours on it. Had the clutch repaired twice, will not shift unless the engine is turned off. The newest problem is the engine slung a rod due to the oil blowing out of he engine. Terrible customer service from JD. Basically, a defective product that they've not taken ownership to fic.
