Love how you guys complement each other. My question is for both of you to answer. If you were to collaborate with a company to make a product that had your name on it and you helped make better what would that product be and what would you look to do to make it better? Please exclude paddles or bags since that market seems really saturated.

Another question I have about paddles pertains to thick or thinner cores depending on the weather. For instance, in colder weather, a 16 seems to be more controlled for me, and then in warmer weather, the 13 is my go-to. How does weather, wind, court surface, and ball material relate to which paddle is better? Thank you!

With Thrive allowing you to choose a swing weight for a paddle I had a question regarding the pros and cons of just going with the lightest version of the paddle you like and then adding lead or tungsten to get to the swing weight you prefer. I assume there is an advantage in maximizing the perimeter weighting to get there compared to starting with more weight in the paddle itself which would most likely be distributed over a broader area of the paddle. But what if any disadvantage might there be in doing that compared to buying closer to your target swing weight?

A little more background to my previous question. I have been playing the Joola Hyperion 16mm for almost 2 years now and absolutely love it. I have been looking for a while and haven't found a paddle that would tempt me away from the Hyperion until I came across the Joola Hyperion C2 16mm yesterday. I'm not sure when this paddle came out, but I feel like they really didn't advertise it and I'm wondering why. It sounds like the perfect upgrade for me. A video I watched yesterday said that if the Hyperion and the Perseus had a baby, this would be the result. Everywhere I looked, it was out of stock, so I ended up paying full price from Amazon yesterday. I'm not really concerned about the money, but I'm wondering if I am buying at the worst time possible knowing that BIG things are coming from Joola in the near future. Just looking for your thoughts since I can return the paddle if needed. With the money that I have allotted for my new paddle, I can pretty much get anything out there and would like to make the most informed decision possible. That being said, I'm excited to get this paddle as long as I'm not missing something (it pretty much only had great reviews). Thanks in advance for your time.

I’m thinking that resin peel ply that is subject to ball impact, will and is breaking down, the most developments are on core, but proton having made baseball bats with their special rubberized surface, is going to last along with space age tech materials, bad graphics, will be a leader in top tier.

For your consideration. An important issue for eye protection is for those already wearing corrective glasses. The “over-the-glasses” protection solutions are simply awful. Need the application of technology and design. A discussion would be interesting. Great podcast. Thanks.

When shopping for a paddle, what characteristics (besides paddle face material) tend to make it a longer lasting in terms of performance? (Too many paddles and balls go too quickly into landfill). And besides swing weight and static weight, are there innovations in paddle handles/dampening/shock absorption that can help reduce stress on the elbow? I think Prokennex has the tungsten beads in some of their more expensive paddles, but not sure if any other paddle makers innovate in that respect.

Love you channel. Question regarding to instant replay for out calls. I watched a lot of PPA and APP tournaments. Do you know why PPA doesn’t place their cameras angle parallel to the side and baseline like APP does? It’s so much easier to tell if the ball is in or out at that angle view.

Question for each of you individually: what is the paddle you’ve played with that gives you the most power while still being “controllable” in your opinion? I picked up a ProDrive Encounter a few weeks ago after you talked about it on the podcast and that’s been the one for me with great spin too.

What do you think is the average play time that you can expect out of a Gen 2 thermoformed paddle before core crushing begins to take place? I seem to get about 4-6 months playing only 2x per week. I have gone through one CRBN 1x and a Project 006, both lasting less than 6 months on 2hrs per session 2x per week.

Vatic Prism 14mm has provided me with fast hand battles and the control in the short game. This has kept me confident playing with significantly younger players and bangers. I need more power though to put shots away. Hybrid shaped head seems to help with speed. Elongated feels slower to wield in battles. Any suggestions for a light paddle, low swing weight, good control and power,? Seems like the faces are all designed for improved spin now. Priority is hand speed with more power. Thanks for keeping us educated with all the paddle advancements!

Question for next week: When and where do you believe the definite line will be drawn for the power, pop, and spin a pickleball paddle can get on the ball? A follow-up to this: how is this advancement going to impact tournament play for both the lower levels and the pro levels?

Actual question at the end: We get a ton of great information on paddles, (JKew DB is top tier, TY), tungsten tape placement, etc... However I don't hear any content creators talk about the handle over grip / wrap as much. The selection for over grip tape is plentiful with various types of cushiness and tackiness. However this doesn't seem to be talked about as much but is an accessory added by all top players but will notice newer players with original grip on the paddle or maybe this is just how they roll. I realize this is very subjective as is various subjects in this sport but I also think this could be because a lot of newer players buy online and may miss out on the local pro shop touch, where the shop suggest over grip and most shops will even apply for you before heading out the door with your new ball smasher. TLDR; What brand grip do you two use? Do you'll do anything special, i.e. double wrap starting at top working down then back up, etc. Is it a priory for you and one of the first items you add to the paddle? Does it have any impact on any of the data within the paddle DB (swing, pwr, pop)? How often do you change this out, do you also change both the original and over grip? Have you tried the hexacore grip? (i'm a tourna grip guy and change over grip twice a month, it is first thing I do, especially with a new paddle having white grip. sorry for long winded comment. .

I always watch your videos as you’ve got entertaining & educational content about everything Pickleball. Your banters with Eddie are equally entertaining! Kudos to you & all your perseverance to deliver quality content everytime! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 As I’ve just recently received my Dymon Mayhem paddle, I’d like to ask for a thorough review of it just like how you do with these name brand paddles. I am asking as I’m simply amazed with how this paddle changed my games! 😍 I’ve been playing consistently with my Black Diamond before I got this in the mail last week but this paddle just blew my BD in almost ALL points! I don’t usually post a review but I felt the need as this paddle isn’t getting much air time. Please get a review going so people have to know about this awesome piece of an equipment and that when it comes to paddle, our choices are not limited to just name brand ones! As an added bonus, the company, Dymon also sent me a sharp looking cap🧢 - which like their paddle, is also oozing with great quality. I urge you to please review these great guys at Dymon. 🙏🏼

Love the content. You and others speak of swing weight and twist weight which are valid specs. However, there is no place/store nearby to get paddles measured. With the Pursuit Pros, you should list the model you played with in the title. Also, since there are 4 versions of the pursuit pro line, it may have been more interesting to select one of the MX versions instead of the EX. They play very differently. Lastly, I think the use of the bonus score comes across as more of a way to tip the scales you are using. It would be cleaner to have eliminated that. I'm really looking forward to your thoughts on new paddles being launched.

On the topic of pickleball elbow and paddles for players with less forearm strength (maybe more women v more men), would you say low swing weight paddles are better? Would you compare some 13mm and 14mm paddles (Joola Anna Bright, Pikkl Hurricane Pro, Gruvn Muvn 13s and Volaire M2F?). I wish all these great paddles you typically review are viable options, but frequently they make the elbow act up or worsen.

2 general questions. Is the swing weight affected by where you attach the tool to the handle? Will the swing weight vary from reviewer to reviewer depending on where/how they mount the paddle in the swing weight measuring machine? Or is the method foolproof? 2nd question, if I add weight to the butt end of the paddle, could this disqualify my paddle in a tournament? For example, if I add a quarter inch thick disc to the butt end of the paddle, do they measure width and length of the paddle at tournaments? If yes, what is the best way to counterweight a paddle handle?
@wesleyoliver3312

Take off the grip and wrap tungsten/lead tape around the handle, then reapply the grip. Additionally, you can swap the standard grip out for a heavier one, like one made of leather or something like a Hesacore grip (assuming the Hesacore or equivalent is heavier than the stock grip, of course, I actually don't know for Hesacore specifically).

At what point does the technology in paddle development "jump the shark" and destroy the game as it was meant to be played?

Either legalize full eva foam since the new tech is pretty much incorporating this and covering it with carbon fiber. Full EVA foam will be cheaper to make and therefore cheaper for the consumer, more consistent, and you can do more fun stuff with the surface regarding spin, weights, holes, etc. The options with foam is are much more and at a lower cost. LEGALIZE IT. LOL LOL.

Are paddles too powerful? That’s all I hear, but it has changed the game too much for older people. I’m an older player and purchased the PPE and the ALW-C 12.7 just so I’m not getting overpowered by younger or older players that are powerful, but on the other hand, when I play other older people or lower level players, I just overpower them, mostly unintentionally. Should there be limits that are actually below what some of these power paddles produce be implemented by USAPA? People will complain, but people already complain about overpowered paddles.

Question: Thinking about switching from the Ruby to the Azul as I feel like I am lacking pop during hand battles, but I do not want to lose the plushy feeling and control from the Ruby. Worth the tradeoff?
