I love how when John says he's going on a date Sherlock says what in a annoyed way then John explains and Sherlock just says that's what i was suggesting and he just curls up in a ball with a mixture of sadness anger and being annoyed
First, I'm not gay, but I think they actually should make this couple Canon! Why not? They let it clear from the beginning that those two had something going on. We're living in the 21st century! Come on! Some of you might say "But there is still Mary..." Well, I don't think John "LOVES" Mary the same way he loves Sherlock and besides in the original novel Mary dies so hopefully John will be going back to Baker Street to live with Sherlock.

What I think a lot of people miss about what Irene said: about the 'yes, you are a couple' part. She had recognised that they are commited to each other, no one can be as close as they are to each other, they form an alliance together against the world. It doesn't matter thóówhether it's platonical or romantical, they belong together. They are a couple, just not the way the world defines romantical couples and I think it's absolutely amazing and beautiful. :3

what i love is how john is so quick to say that he's not gay but sherlock corrects everyone for every small thing they get wrong but he has never ever denied being gay for example when he thought John was coming onto him he didn't say that he wasn't gay, just that he wasn't interested. and then whenever people assume they're a couple he never denies it and just ignores it. from a bi woman those are 2 major. signs of being in the closet

Don't get me wrong - I love her actress and the fact that she and John's actor, Martin Freeman are married in real life, however we're going to lose SO MUCH CHEMISTRY if it won't be canon! In fact I do feel so much chemistry there between those two people and I feel they click with each other and that's why the presence of Mary feels so awkward unnecessary and odd for me, I can see no chemistry there between John and Mary,her presence can only be justified with the original stories of ACD.thats why she is in the series and maybe to emphasize Sherlocks love for John and make him jealous and make his character realize how much John means for him. But I cannot see them gay all the way you know with cuddling and kissing and sex,it would ruin everything for me,the delicacy and beauty of the story would be ruined because it would become a standard love story which happen everywhere In every movie. For me this is the story about two very complicated people with special needs (to experience thrill of chase and danger) who hence were very lonely and then met and clicked,were subconsciously drawn to each other and created a friendship,a very special one

Just because same sex people love eachothet don't make them gay. The gay references in the show are hilarious and i can never get enough of it i see it as a harmless tease. This is simply the greatest bromance ever.
Sorry, but as a gay person, I really don't see what's so funny about people being gay. Maybe a joke or two is fine, but if John was played by a girl, everyone would be seeing romance. Of course there are relationships where two people love each other and aren't together, but the whole 'bromance' and 'lololol they act gay but they're not' is harmful to progress when it comes to the way LGBT people are depicted in the media. It's also hurtful to LGBT people because our relationships are shown as being less valid or less serious than a heterosexual relationship. I've always 'shipped' Watson/Holmes in the books because I think they do have something that's deeper than friendship (but without the sexual nature of a relationship) and so have countless others. I do think BBC Sherlock (as much as I love it) takes the 'teasing' into the realm of being harmful. It's okay to laugh and make jokes, of course, but I'm just letting you see it from my perspective. It's called 'queer-baiting' and a lot of people (myself included) find it very disheartening and degrading.
Natalie Rose I'm sorry you feel that way. I wanted to write a detailed reply but then I just deleted it because in the end I try to avoid these type of discussions. You know what infuriates me more ? Making a fuss about a harmless little thing which in the end blows up to something it wasn't meant to be. I'm just glad my gay friends aren't like that. Also..did you know that most of these scenes were written by none other than Mark ? That should tell you something.
You are right about the fact that it is a very little thing. And I'm sure that's why your gay friends haven't talked about it with you. It's not like workplace discrimination, marriage equality, or hate crimes. But honestly, how many movies/books/TV shows do you know of have two MAIN characters in a same-sex relationship where the plot doesn't revolve around the fact that they're gay? Very few, at least in the popular media. Welcome to Night Vale is honestly the only one I can think of at the top of my head. Can you really blame me for wanting more things like that?
