You can tell that sam cook was johnnie taylor idol in his music and style * they both had a wonderful joyful voice that brought out love and tenderness that will be missed*
I've watch this concert so many times I've lost count....I LOVE!!!! this! Know word for word."I'm talkin' to you lady wit the pretty earrings on".....hahaha..Sam Cooke vibes was in the building that night ( If, I had a hammer)....Sang It, Pete!
i just have to listen to my favorite. artis its amessage in every song you really. Have to listen. hes telling. something hes tha. best. of all. rip johnnie harrison taylor
I was fortunately to have back stage pass at a concert in Saginaw, also went to the after party. They were down to earth, we had a ball. I love their music all of it.
The people that didn't get a chance to see Johnnie Taylor and James Brown perform live really missed something great. As you know Mr. Brown gave you more show than you paid for. Mr. Taylor would have given you the same type of show. But he had bad habits early in his career, just as Mr. Brown had late in his career. Both still gave better shows than some performers sober.
Ladies,ya,ll don,t Never comment and reply back to this,So I,m going to say it again ,This Man,s WIFE WAS A DAMN LUCKY WOMAN,SHE DID,NT GET JUST A PIECE OF tHE PIE,SHE GOT THE WHOLE PIE.
It's 2023 the world has gone crazy there is a mass shooting every day. I get my music from great artists especially those I saw in person and think about the "good Ole days" and say Lord have mercy
I cried when I found out he had been taken away from us, but I'm so grateful for all of the wonderful music he left here for us R.I.P. Mr. Taylor, Love you!
2024 and for some reason I have been playing the heck out of JT this week. I keep playing this entire concert and his song what about my love on soultrain back in the day. I'm hooked!
My mother loved this guy his music was always playing in our home. Especially on Saturdays when she was in a good mood. I truly believe she lived by his music. All she went through in life in relationships in life. He's words mean alot to her. She went through the changes in her. Thank you for being there for her she's in Heaven now. Lord Bless her soul and his
Have you noticed how JT "stole" from the late, great, fantastic Sam Cooke? But that's okay, those cats went a way, way back! It's okay with me too; Johnnie loved Sam almost as much as I do. .....Well, it's not that I'm in a hurry to get to heaven but I can't wait to tell Sam that after all these years, I'm still madly in love with him. My love for him is even stronger today than it was more than 50 years ago.
Rome Wasn't Built in a Day, If I Had A Hammer, I Love You For Sentimental Reasons.....This is a powerful 1960-64 Gospel Grove or Drive......And JT works it like he was with the Soul Stirrers......
I know I'm bias...but I believe Sam and SAR would have locked up the music sound for years....Maybe at least the 60's and 70's...the powers that were and are...was not about to let that happen..Listen to the talent of JT..and how he puts that tribute spin in, without missing a beat. If I wasn't singing gospel(thats where a lot of the Great ones started) I would be singing this type of music, and some classic...Sam Cooke...Larry Hilton Cooke
Johnnie Taylor was a wonderful singer my mother loves his music he is very much missed Johnnie Taylor can sing the phone book and it will sound good rest in heaven Johnnie Taylor we do miss you my brother
Ain't No Doubt!!! Debonair and a True Showman!!! I put Sam Cooke at the Top of the Mountain of Soul Singers,2.Johnnie Taylor 3.Tyrone Davis I'm only 41,but my daddy has played them for me all my Life, and he's still playing them at 81,Mr.Sherman Burns Sr!!!!!!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE JT..I'M SOO GLAD I LIVED IN HIS TIMES .a blessing and an honor..however a lot younger, but an old soul..you will be sadly missed ..gone to soon baaaby
Love me some JT. He was sexy and the songs he sing love all of them. Had beautiful smile gave good shows n love his audience. Rip johnnie always love u.
Johnnie and Sam sang in the same gospel groups back in the 50s. I don't think they were ever in the same group at the same time. Google 'The Soul Stirrers' and 'The Highway QCs' for more information. Oh, Low Rawls was also a part of these groups.
That is correct but, JT was placed not picked by Sam and later sign with SAR records owned by SAM Cook and had his frist hit, Rome wasnt built in a day. Sam also recorded it. If anyone know what im talking about JT runs was the hammer compared to Rip. Like johnnie taylor always said, Listen!
