Johnny was the best. He introduced us to new comedians, had on jazz and opera greats, plus all of the great animal spots with Joan Embry. I was exposed to so many different facets of culture. I didn't realize what was happening at the time but now I realize how great that was. 40 years later and I still find this hilarious. I had a crush on Joan Embry.
Just the sound of Johnny's voice brings an incredible feeling of peace and comfort. If I close my eyes it brings me home to my mom and dad and the feeling of being loved and protected. Our country has changed and not for the better. TV is a total bore. We will never see times like this again! Missing you John and Ed and all the classic entertainers!
Never can be duplicated, Johnny was one of a kind. No matter where I moved in life, I always had his show to look forward to at the end of the night. Miss him💙💋
I especially enjoyed the egg and cream clip with Dom Deluise and Burt Reynolds! Do you think even Jimmy Fallon would be willing to commit such a sartorial sacrifice for the sake of spontaneous hilarity? As Benny Hill might've said: "Not bloody likely!"
THIS BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYE'S....I REMEMBER A LOT OF THE EPISODES WATCHUNG WITH MY MOM...TIMES LONG PAST...16 YEARS OLD GOING ON 60 TODAY....CHERISH YOUR YOUTH SERIOUSLY..THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES
The intrinsic quality about Carson, was he ALWAYS made it about the guests, he was to draw them out, then their answers would get that LOOK he would show the audience and the camera. That wonderful look, which read to me, "see what I put up with ?" The best host ever.
Johnny was so quick in his wit, plus his timing was flawless. He always made his guest feel at ease, he was never was rude to them. He was a great interviewer. His monologues were based on current affairs, but he never used his show as a political agenda. His job was to entertain, not in making political statements. The big band was awesome. They don’t make talk shows like that anymore.
Rolland Makinano- The problem with today's talk show hosts, is that they seem to be aimed at the college aged crowd. "Middle" America is being lost in the shuffle.
all great points, it seems as though this would have been a good time to throw in the towel. He looked long in the tooth here. But some say he soldiered on for another 15 years (perhaps not that long
Carson was brilliant. He was very VERY well read. He had incredible recall and lacked ego. When he had a guest he did all he could to make them shine a talent you do not see on today's shows.
"Would´t sink any baskets, huh?"...got me rolling on the floor...Man, the delivery, with that slight shake of the head beforehand...magnificent.The one and only Johnny Carson. We still love you, even after all these years have passed by.
I feel bad that I didn't appreciate how wholesome and good the Tonite Show was at the time. It was a part of my life since I was a baby and I think I must've felt like it would just go on forever.
What a GREAT time to be alive. I was So GLAD & HAPPY to witness the type of Entertainment that will NEVER be seen again unless you watch the rerun’s. Mr Carson was simply the BEST. Often Imitated Never Duplicated
If he was real he'd talk about how much he drank every day and how he beat his wife regularly. That would be interesting. Or we can ignore reality and let woman be abused
George Kaplan : 12 March, 2020.... I’m 55, and I remember watching the opening monologue since the age of 16. Get off work, tune into Johnny!! Great days.
May 28, 2020 ~ I'm now 76 and where ever I go I hope to see Johnny, Ed and Doc again on the Pearly Gate Show with all the stars of the 40's up to the 21st century! Thanks all of you for all the laughs and wonderful memories.
Loved this man and the Tonight Show!!!💗💜❤️I used to sing in the singing group “THE JEFF SAMAHA SINGERS”... we sang all over the tri-state area and raised a lot of money for different charities. Our Conductor and Manager of our group was JEFF SAMAHA... wonderful, talented man. Jeff was Johnny Carson’s FLOOR MANAGER for the TONIGHT SHOW💁🏼✨❤️
I was always a big fan. It's even funnier watching it now than it was back then, to me. I'm 63 now.I I haven't actually belly laughed so much in so long I can't remember. But the enjoyment you get from watching real funny stuff feels great every time and any time. Thanks Johnny
Johnny Carson was a good man ! Thanks to these reruns i finally get to see them . When I was young ! I was too young to relate to people ! Hey now I am too old and it’s too late to share them with my grandma . I may be 72 but I can laugh ! Thankyou grandma I miss you soooo much. She never missed Johnny Carson !! Thankyou grandma lived to 106 ! Have a wonderful day😊
@@laurenmacke4060 And Steve Allen before Parr. Steve said it best at Carson's roast. He watched the Tonight show like a man who watches his ex wife, ESPECIALLY if she was a hit.....
And Jimmy Fallon Who Became Host After Lenos 2nd Stint Moved It Back To New. York For This Own Personal Reasons His Family That Is And All They Talk Is Political Correctness Now
A great show that did what it was supposed to do - entertain! A pity that some of the current variety shows sometimes don’t live up to that simple premise.
They are politically correct and WOKE! Their base is composed of mealy mouthed pablum puking liberals whose feelings are very sensitive to many issues.
As far as I'm concerned, "The Tonight Show" ended May 22, 1992. If NBC wanted to continue having a program in the 11:30 time slot, they would have been better off using a different title. For instance, with regard to the jerk in that time slot nowadays, NBC could have called it "The Arrogant Show with Jimmy Fallon". Of course, I realize that such a title wouldn't sell advertising air time; but, at least, it would have been an accurate description of the host.
@@wallytron2563 That's because Carter was President and Carson did a couple of Jokes . There wasn't a dozen 24 hour a day news shows looking for filler, the president wasn't as much in the news and even if we were a bit naive we trusted them to be accurate.
@@wallytron2563 But, you do realize Carson would have had a lot of fun at Trump's expense, much like he did with Nixon and Reagan. After all, Trump just asks for it.
Lee: Says that you have a terrific grasp of both History and Headline Topics. And tried to stay immensely aware of the significance of both through the years.🤔📺B.W.
Remember the time Doris Day was on and her things were standing on edge and Johnny didn't stare and made a subtle little comment and she covered up. It was classic JOhnny
My grandma watch Johnny Carson every night . She died at 106 she outlived Johnny Carson . After her heart was broken at a 100 , she survived another 6 years ! I miss you grandma white❤ rest in peace . The persons who broke your heart , well karma will get all of them… I love and miss you forever…
Great to see this! I’m tired of the same old episodes on Antenna TV with their horrible opening that cuts out Ed’s introduction. This is how I remember it.
🎙Johnny Carson🎙 has to be worth every💲 they paid him- The Guys A Natural Talent Interviewer 🎙 Generally always right in there having fun 🏌️♀️👨💻👍 -UTUBE reruns thanks everyone who post these days & days just watching reruns 🎙👍🤪 we NEVER got to see these clips in OZ in 70s
Another fun packed show, with many risqué sketches, Johnny Carson certainly pushed the envelope where comedy was concerned. Guess I have to watch some more shows ......oh, well!
Letterman couldn't come close to Carson by a long shot! Letterman's bitterness due to his losing to Jay Leno for being the premier top late night talk show host was quite apparent in his bitter sardonic humor and stage persona indicative of a sore loser! Leno tops Letterman in many aspects... why do you think Leno got the job??!!
Loved Johnny Carson! He spoofed a lot of people, and then Jack Nicholson spoofed Ed McMahon's introduction of Johnny in The Shining. I bet Carson loved that.
