The reason for all of the celebrities in this video is because Johnny Cash unfortunately passed away before shooting a video to the song so they called in all the celebrities that looked up to and were friends with Johnny Cash to shoot this video for the song as tribute to Johnny Cash.

When he told in the song that God told him to sing it, the hair stood up: "...been talking to the man from Gallilee. He called my name and my heart stood still (Johnny's voice goes strident here) when He said, 'John go and do My will,tell the....'". I guess if God called my name and commanded me to tell sinners they can run but can't hide and God is going to pass judgement and then said it was His will to do it and I should, I'd be in the recording studio as quick as I could get it written.
