Thank you so much Stu. It really demonstrates how great songs don't need complicated chord progressions and licks to hit the heart. To me, that's what music is about.
Another lesson in playing, feeling and performing from the heart. Love the philosophy too, along with those hammer ons...your the total package. Happy Alakasan travels.
I hope so too! The road goes will open up soon - in the meantime I plan to offer some online workshops that ill be be close surrogate ;-) Be well Shay.
Did he teach you which chords to use for the song? Or just how to strum and play the strings....I can't see where he is actually teaching anything.....
Wow,thanks for making this wonderful tutorial. Granted it wasn't the hardest song(which I need right now). You did a great job bringing to life a song that I really wasn't familiar with even though I enjoy Mr.Cashs library, I guess this one slipped through. I agree with you Me.Fuchs ,Cash is a master at making songs that tell a story, and a good one at that. What are the odds a guy would do such a thing today? Musically it was so easy I was able to do it, and it sounded o.k. I imagine with some practicing, I might be able to make it Sound really good actually. What a nice change. Thanks for the tutorial and the free sheet of lyrics and tabs, right now every little bit matters.
Thanks so much for joining in - and happy to share a "new" Johnny Cash song with you. He was a deep artist for sure... Wishing you well & happy playing. New videos every week: ru-vid.com
Dang it, Stu... Thank you! Superlative version of my favourite country song. I'm going to embellish my version on your account. Sounds beautiful. Take care, Casey
Thank you Stu for this video still very "generous" .... 🎈 This little melody is going to occupy me one moment! I wish you a beautiful discovery of this wild land that is Alaska ..... I was told that it was necessary to have very big eyes!!🙄
Great video & tutorial! It took me a min to realize you're using a low G tenor. Now I know why I can't get the same alternating "boom-di-dy" sound. I ended up going with the triple strum pattern & it worked out fine.
That's so great that you used your ear to figure it out… It may seem obvious to some, but it takes a while for folks to really begin to listen and not rely too much on the written page of music....hats off to you Jacob!
I was really eager to give this song a try. To my dismay, neither left hand nor right hand fingers would cooperate and I had to plug away at it for over a month. Persistence eventually paid off and I rewarded myself with new strings that included a low G. Thanks for the lesson, I love playing this song.
Persistance pays off indeed! Good for you for sticking with it! Thanks for watching Faythe & I look forward ro making more videos for you! Be well, Stu

Hey Stu. It is so good that you teach music, of course with an wonderfull instrument ;). I love my kala asac b! I think music and love will be the answer - one day :) Wish you a wonderfull time
Always Loved Johnny. However, imo, no one could touch Lefty Frizzell's version. Beautiful voice and sweet guitar. Speaking of Johnny, did you know he had an LP title "Boom CHICKA Boom"?
Thank You Stu, Great tutorials and Great singing as well, 😂I enjoyed it as much as LF, JC, MERLE, Waylon etc. Stu singing from his heart , Well done😮 We didn’t want You to be JC, LF just be our Awesome Teacher Stu Fuchs 👍👍😊👍👍👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Stu, This song has never registered with me but I do like it and appreciate your presentation. Perhaps I will get that strum fixed in my head before long, because it's a 5star.
Thanks Bryan! It's deep song with a lot of feeling in it... Thank you for watching...More resources for your music journey with your membership support at www.patreon.com/ukulelezen

His is actually the original version. Johnny Cash didn't write it: "Long Black Veil" is a 1959 country ballad, written by Danny Dill and Marijohn Wilkin and originally recorded by Lefty Frizzell." Johnny performed it alot and recorded it a couple times. Sammi Smith [of help me make it thru the night" fame] had the highest charting version. #26 in the 70's. kind of interesting story of its inspiration. wiki the song
Hello I love this song and am learning this song, on my ukulele it sounds wrong, are you using low g? I'm always looking for a different challenge on my ukulele learning.
Great lesson, Stu. I love Johhny Cash. What do you think about the Klos carbon fiber uke? It sounds good thru my cheap laptop speakers! How does it compare to a wood uke?
Hi, Thanks again for this great lessons. It help me to grow my skill day-by-day. I need an advice: i would like to buy a new ukulele. I ve started with a beginner concert and want to buy something better. But i hesitate to try a soprano. What is the +/- between concert and soprano? If you or other players can share their experiences about this it will be great. Thanks.
I have another video called " Johnny Cash's Favorite Strum"...check that one out. watching something a few more times is very helpful to better understand what I'm doing...follow along & copy please. Thanks for watching!
Same. Actually not only the same movie but in the same beginning scene, in the Zen garden with the Shaolin student..., don't mistake the finger with moon. Classic. Anyway. It was long ago.
Ukulele Zen it definitely gives it extra “oomph” as I was trying it with reentrant tuning & there’s a noticeable difference. I guess I’ll have to pick up another Uke with a low G now 😉. Be well!
Quite a story...He loved her enough to die for her...she didn't love him enough to save his life. I'd have been spilling my guts long before I got to the scaffold!
That's a very good & interesting point Nelson! I imagine this song taking place in very olden days when a woman would have been shunned from the community or worse. I'm with you...that is a DEEP love to sacrifice like that.
