Johnny was one of the all-timers if you ever saw him play live. Just a brilliant performer. As great as he was on guitar, his voice was stunning. He is sorely missed.
If you've never seen Johnny Copeland and Stevie Ray Vaughn at the Montreaux Jazz Festival from 1985, you're missing some of the finest blues ever put down. Mercy!

I saw him live in Tokyo, Japan in 1980, mind boggling, amazing. There is only one Johnny Copeland, great blues from the depth of his soul and soul wrenching guitar, mercy mercy this is the blues at its very best by a great artist.
I remember seeing play in Brussels quite a few years ago and he actually taught me the biggest music lesson ever : it doesn't matter whether there's a big crowd or a few people listening to you in a small bar, there is only one way to play : play like it's gonna be the last time of your life you play and play your heart out !
I saw him in a very big club with a very small crowd. He said, that's alright we'll just have a party. And what a party it was, everyone dancing and being friendly, an amazing night.
@LDean5643: I was fortunate enough to see AC many times, but never Johnny... I miss him and his fiery playing and singing. What a performer, and heard he was a fine man, too. Folks, support your favorite performers while you can - time passes quickly and they are here and gone before you know it.
Must have been a watershed year for Johnny, saw some other youtubes in 84 and saw him in person in NYC and he looked good. he looks here a little downtrodden here. Only one that gives him a run for his money is Clapton, but after watching this I don't know, except a great talent. Red
