Johnny Depp and actor/director Maïwenn sat down for an interview with The Associated Press at the Cannes Film Festival to talk about their Louis XV period drama “Jeanne du Barry," which received an extended standing ovation at its premiere.
Depp said there was "perfect synchronicity" between the pair, and that the "circus" of attention to his personal life and appearance on the French Riviera was "still weird to me." It's the Hollywood star's first film since his defamation trial win over ex-wife Amber Heard.

Maïwenn, Depp and the rest of the cast walked the carpet to The Clash's song "Should I Stay or Should I Go." Depp received applause inside the theater as he arrived to take his seat. One audience member was heard shouting, "Go Johnny!"

Oui! I was thinking the same - NOT a comeback. Just a break from the mega-hyped franchises that target mass audiences... JD is more about artistry & quality than about $$ like so many in the Hollywood film industry. I've enjoyed catching up on some of his more obscure or art house films. I bet I know what Johnny deserves for closure. Someone should buy Amber's Tesla. Auction off sledge hammer blows to the car in a pay-per-view event. Have Jack Daniels sponsor it. "JD presents JD's Justice Jam." With limited edition Mega-Pints called "Jack 'N' Johnny's Justice Juice." (My idea so I get one) Where Disney and WB publicly apologizes to him. Then donate the proceeds to the children's hospital. NOT the aclu. I bet that would be VERY therapeutic for him and the entire world. Or... Use the proceeds to build an actual, working "Black Pearl."
