I feel the same. In fact, as much as I loathe remakes, I've always thought those two in a Face/Off remake would be amazing. Or to see them in a buddy movie, like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, which Downey jokingly suggested in an interview, would be grand as well.

I actually see this as an incredibly wholesome dad moment, because JD seems exponentially more engaged in his son’s changing interests as he grows up, and changes as a person, than he is whatsoever concerned with his own ego about “my sons favorite character should always be his namesake-me!”. This is clearly a man who just wants his son to be happy and uses his connections to make his kid’s lives as special as he can. (And even more impressive is that he didn’t even think of coming up with a joke on the spot about being jealous-he’s just enjoying recalling a profound moment in his son’s life, and laughing about it in the best natured way. I love JD. Justice!

Actually- I just realized Johnny Depp is double his son’s namesake! Haha! How cool is that! JD Jr.’s legal name is John C. Depp III, but he goes exclusively by Jack, which comes from Jack Sparrow. What a brilliant little twist on both carrying on a family name and also honoring your first son with the name of your greatest creative accomplishment. ❤️

@B I’ve got one of those life stories that is pretty freaking horrific - stuff that has had trauma counsellors say it’s the worst they’ve heard, and my psychiatrist is this sweet-looking older Eastern European lady, yet she gets so furious and says some THINGS (I sometimes quite want to laugh!). Movies were often my only escape from the awfulness. As an adult, the bad stuff continued, and so do my only escape. Now, they are the escape and reminder of my safety, as I try to fight the mental illnesses and physical damage that is the consequence of the decades of trauma. They’re often not the critically acclaimed films, but the ones that are ‘easy’, trigger-safe, comforting, or joyful. Artists and art forms mean something to people and film is a medium that is accessible to the wider public, and for many provides an activity that can include their whole family. In general, specialised knowledge is rarely needed, as the bulk of films either aim to reflect real life, or give us a distraction from it that is still relatable enough to allow us to feel something, even if that ‘something’ is light escapism with a few little thrills. But for me, and many others I know, actors and their films (with the huge number of other contributors) mean something more, even helping to save our lives at times. Several hours ago now, it wasn’t my ‘life’, but intense flashbacks that come with visual imagery and physical sensations of BAD things, and thoughts of harm. The movie was Beauty and the Beast. Meds helped of course, but they can’t take a paintbrush to what I see in my damaged brain - the movie did.

Amen! I never was a fan but both my daughters were . I pray that he’s able to regain everything he’s lost. I was so sadden by what this man had to go through. He has my vote and many others.
