Johnny Gets a Hug From a Baby Orangutan On This Classic Joan Embery Appearance - 02/28/1978 #johnnycarson #thetonightshow #joanembery Part 01 - • Joan Embery Brings a B...
How can you speak as though the host is not there? He is meant the be the emotional pillar, someone for the audience to laugh with or connect with. She's the professional. She responded to proper questions, not trivial statements. Ge talked over her consistently. I really felt bad for her. She did not seem comfortable being undermined like that.
No one could top Johnny but I think the closest we had were Dave Letterman, Conan O'Brien and Craig Ferguson. But naturally able to play off their guests but still very much themselves
@@spiritindasky1311 and a guy who hit and abused women, sometimes in public, Grow a fucking brain genius. Being nice in front of the camera means NOTHING.
More importantly he was very confident and loving with the animals as opposed to the current hosts which always seem way too uncomfortable and terrified. I have never seen a host more comfortable than Johnny.
Johnny was the best. His first thought is about the disgusting act of killing an animal just to make an ornament for somebody's desk. Class act. He let the experts talk, and explain the animals, with the occasional quip to keep the mood light. He always did his best to interact with every creature, and it made for genuine good times. His respect for the animals of this world was something that always stuck me, and it is evident as you watch his face with those orangutans. Priceless.
I thought it was pretty obnoxious to be frank. He didn't even establish whether or not they were poached illegally or raised as livestock or collected deceased. He just went off on a little moral outrage rant.
After 9:30, when Johnny tries to make him laugh, at 9:45 the orangutan shoots a look at us as if wondering if this guy is nuts, and it's one of the funniest moments of live television. Carson cracks up. And the baby rolls his eyes. Just wonderful.
@@olobreh2007 yeah you come off as a person who wouldn't even know how to use an ivory chess set or piano keys, couldn't afford it in the first place bozo
So nice to see how Johnny listened attentively and interacted in an open and interested way with the animals. Nearly all the late night hosts now act like idiots when an animal expert brings creatures to the set, drawing attention away from them and to their own egos.
They act like idiots because they are idiots. Any late night show now is an embarrassing joke. I quit watching after Leno and Letterman. Fallon is completely disappointing. They are puppets of the far left.
@@stevennieto9898 if you're going to choose any modern talk show host it needs to be Conan. Fallon just can't sit and talk to a guest without constantly pushing them into uncomfortable situations or cutting his guests off in a way that makes it sound like he isn't really listening and instead just waiting for his turn to talk, it just make the whole interview feel really awkward. Don't get me wrong, he's not bad all the time, he can be decent here and there. But Conan really brings some next level feelings of comfort to his guests, don't think I've ever laughed harder than some of Conan and Norm MacDonald's interactions on Conan's show.
There has never been anyone like Johnny Carson for showing love and kindness to animals. And of course, he always got great laughs at their antics toward him.
Johnny Carson we miss you thank you so much for being here you left us with some great memories especially with the animals. You really knew how to do a tonight show. Unlike the ones today.
Because people don’t want entertainment. People want politics that aren’t in people’s favor annnnnnnnnnnnnnd complain about the world today instead of enjoy. There’s a lot of awesome stuff in the world today, it’s okay to not be so bitter.
@@AGoodHairDay I’m not a hunter but I’m not gonna condemn someone who is. Ethical hunters who go for quick, clean kills to minimize suffering for animals are to be respected. Even more important, hunters are often champions of wildlife, often donating money and resources to keep our wild places healthy and protected. It’s sometimes even necessary for hunters to cull wildlife for the overall health of the ecosystem. I
@@elleryeggen9678 how wonderful. My brother and sister were 7 and 6 years older than I. Therefore my memories are my own alone. They are still very sweet memories though.
Michael Linner You DO realize that I’ll be giving my age away if I add my memories of Johnny, right? 😉 So, let’s just say that I was just a tiny baby and enjoyed Johnny SO very much!😉😜
Michael, I was ten years old. I remember doing the exact same things. Johnny was the BEST. Such an icon. There really hasn't been anyone liked him since he's been gone. This brought back good memories. The other two shows I loved watching were Little House on The Prairie and Emergency. I know you'll know Little House but remember Emergency?
GOOGLE GUIDE I LIED! I love Conan! Colbert is OK, person wise but not the show, Conan is such a genuinely funny person. And love his assistant Sona and also the famous Jordan schlansky lol
Oh, how I miss this man. His segments with animals was priceless. And, what he says during the first half of this video about the horrible abuse of animals just so someone can have a carved piece of a duck's beak or elephant's tusk was so true and spoken from his heart. He was the best.
Johnny Carson & Jay Leno were 2 of the finest late night hosts. They were naturally hilarious, didn't express slanted political jokes that only represented one political party. They both appreciated America & never tore down our country. Wish they were still on late night. Our country could sure use true comedy & some uplifting during these difficult days. Today, it's like Karl Marx writes The monologues for the late night hosts.
@@anne-marie8178 If Johnny was alive and hosting today and said what he did here about poaching and how people shouldn't buy things made from animals, you'd call him "woke."
but there will come men and women to match such charm and personality, we are simply in desparate times! see to it people! who shall be the next great host?
You could tell that he loved animals. The way he was advocating for the horn billed bird and the elephants 🐘. I loved that. The orang-utans were just so adorable. Johnny really enjoyed them.
Fantastic statements from Johnny Carson about stopping the market on items made from animals illegally. I've been saying this about a lot of things in the last years, such as bringing foreign animals here to live. The only way to stop this is to cut off the money flow. Stop supporting it
Palm oil is responsible for more animal deaths than animal smuggling. You can help stop the deaths by purchasing products that are palm oil free or only from sustainable sources.
Unfortunately, not everyone is as knowledgeable about poaching as they should be and some, even if they were, just don't care. A lot of people buy such items at gift shops without knowing that animals die an unnatural death in order to accommodate that aspect of commercialism.
I'm so glad we have the internet for videos like this. It's 2022, I'm not old enough to have watched him on television, and yet here I am watching and admiring segments of Johnny Carson. And the way we're actually hearing information on the animal and we're given enough time with each of them to appreciate it is something you don't see right now. I'm a Conan fan, and I love when he had animals on the show, but this is next level that you don't see at all anymore.
THANK YOU, Johnny Carson!! You cared about animals and were among the first to speak out when they were killed for profit! And you never refused to give a hug to a scared little critter. You were the BEST!
That was a true classic. It wasn't just watching Johnny and guests like Joan with their wild animals. It was watching all of it every night with my dear Grandma. Rest in Peace Grandma and Johnny.
Johnny was one in a million. He set the bar so high. I wonder what he would think of what passes for "entertainment" today. I love how informed and vocal he was about the animal trade. A gorgeous man inside and out.
That was a truly amazing and beautiful segment. Especially the Orangutans. Johnny was really enjoying the moment. I think they were both fascinated with each other. The little fellow seemed so disappointed when they were leaving. I love Orangutans.
Man, he was just the best at these live animal segments...You could tell he was genuinely interested. Big Hollywood jet setting star; he remembers a detail from a nature documentary he watched about the bird that's on the show. In a lot of ways, he always remained a boy from the midwest...
This is just the sweetest video ever. Such a classic. His little face when Johnny's laughing is amazing. Lisa making those eyes at the other gentleman! Johnny's just such a genuinely good person.
02:45 quite progressive stance johnny has there for the 70s... protecting wildlife and stuff! thats why Joan is smiling like that! 42 years later and the market is still there...
He was a good person. He gave to various charities, including environmental causes, and even after his death, his charitable foundation gave more than $156 million to various charitable groups. An exceptional person.
Instead, today, billionaires spending millions to fly into space instead of giving their employees raises and paying taxes. What's a carving or two from dead animals?
Johnny animal right talk holds up years later. He also put his money 💰 to great causes with animals.... he was honest and sincere in his interest and interest. What a wonderful guy he was.
I'm from another country (UK) and too young to have watched Johnny Carson, but seeing these clips now......he just blows the pathetic fake late night hosts that are around today out of the water.
Kino you'll have to find something or somewhere where you can see the old episodes. Or at least clips on here. He was the BEST. But hey, the UK has some great comedy too. Maybe a bit older than you if you don't remember Johnny but hey!! I loved watching Mr Bean. I've never seen my father laugh so hard as when we watched the episode where he was in church and was trying not to fall asleep. It was classic!!
The ones on Late Night currently are just nasty human beings can't stand them, especially when they knock President Donald Trump they are disgrace to our country should be removed from television.
Way to go Johnny! Way to go! Thank you for always being willing to speak out about the obvious wrongs in the world & not giving a damn what anyone else thought. He also knew the power his words carried & he used them well.
Just listen how genuine he is. This is why he will always be number 1. Not everything had to be a zippy one liner. Just let things breathe and be naturally funny.
Johnny was the ultimate host. He had perfect timing. He was nice to his guests. I loved watching him. There will never be another. The animal segments have always been one of my favorites! Rest in Peace Johnny.
Never was a better talk show host than Johnny..never will be anyone who can elicit the best from his guests and audience like he did. He was funny, kind, intelligent, empathic, and caring.
No one will ever come even close to being as good as Johnny Carson was. I gave a few of them a look see but finally gave up. It just isn't going to happen.
LOVED JOHNNY CARSON!!! Joan Embrey has always been a HERO!! As a young girl, I’d beg my Mother to allow me to get up at watch her on The Johnny Carson Show. I so wanted to me like her when I grew up. God had another plan for me as a RN to care for people. We do have 2 cats - our fur babies - Tebow & Tiki Girl, and we foster a kitten Asher. When I retire, I want to work part time at a zoo, or Vet’s office. But Joan Embrey is a true Hero to many women around the world who work with animals - after first watching Joan and her animals. I saw a video that had been posted around 3 years ago showing her recovery from a stroke. Being Joan, after much hard work, she was able to ride her beloved horses again. AMAZING WOMAN!!! 😻🙏🏼😻
Never get tired of these visits with Joan Embery. She has had some health issues recently but I believe is recovering from a stroke. She helps to bring valued information and understanding about the many animals suffering at the Hands of humans. Loved 😊these episodes, Joan is such a delight, tremendous knowledge, she was/is in her best career !!
Omg this is the most wholesome thing. I feel like I’ve missed the best era to grow up in and didn’t get to experience Johnny properly as the show ended when I was a kid. The only talk show host I like now who genuinely loves animals is Conan but still, Johnny is just so pure. I wish talk shows were still like this!!!
you did miss it, many of us younglings did, but the good men who came before invented cameras and computers and recorded his personality for all of us future dwellers to see! such times will return and great minds are on the way!
I seriously can't like this enough times. You can see the love in Johnny for animals when he's holding that perfect little guy. So amazing. Brought a tear to my eye and a HUGE smile to my face, the whole time. ❤️🐒🐦
he was so ahead of his time. the lady didn't even seem like she cared about the jewelry making, like she was advertising it. grateful that johnny was smart enough to speak up for the animals
I don't think he's an activist. He has general concern like any normal person. Activists are just obnoxious and have no real understanding of what conservation entails.
Yeah you make a good point. All these late night guys are a bit cowardly. I also bet they bring all these big beefy handlers on so it doesn't look as bad. Can you imagine what it would look like if a tiny female handler was bringing animals on stage and the host trembling in the corner?
When I saw the clip of him laughing at that babby monkey I thought he is nasty guys but after coming here and watching full video I understood he was nice gentle and animal loving guy. I am so sorry for thinking such stuff I pray God he get heaven
Oh yeah, the clip out of context makes him seem cruel and teasing towards the little guy. With the context it’s still hilarious just the reaction of bruh.
