My Dad's favourite singer was Johnny Mathis. His son (me) had Chic as one of his favourite groups. Was amazing to hear this 30 years after it was cut (like it was to hear the original diana mix for the first time around 2000).

The answer is that Johnny Mathis is a trained singer and always keeps his singing voice in tip top shape and keeps his body in tip top shape. That’s the only way to hold a note that long as a singer or a wind player. When you’re in shape, it is not a problem. Mr. Mathis has done this type of thing his entire illustrative career. To hear another example of this technique, listen to his original recording of Earl Gardner’s Misty.

This reminds me of other classic CHIC ballads...Duran Duran,"Matter of Feeling, Sheena Easton " The Magic of Love..Diana Ross.." Friend to Friend....Sister Sledge...I Don't Know How to Love,,, and the epic .." Someone Loves Me! They were not just a disco flash!!

This is not disco. Chic produced Diana Ross’s huge 1980 album but Chic as a group took a huge dip in sales. Chic also did tracks w Aretha which were never released. Mathis sounds so good here.

With the renewed interest in Nile Rodgers and Chic thanks to Daft punk and pharell you would think this would have more than 30 comments.This is a great band and a great singer taking a sabbatical from their trademark styles. More so with Johnny. This is like his introduction to the quiet storm slow jam world of R&B.

fine slow jam, I think this album is not at all bad. Much better than the collaboration with Debbie Harry which never really took off. Sheila edges it and then Diana (Chic mix) the best.
