After having played most of the top pinball machines, I think JM is probably the best of them all. I dont care about rankings and bullshit, those are based on tradition of opinions based on people who played those games at arcades for some tens of times. So games like TOTAN has very high value and score (great fun, but for a limited time). But owning a game for long time is a different thing. And having owned many machines for several years I can say that JM is absolute perfection, flow and speed, speed and flow, flow and speed! That whats pinball is all about. And great rules, strategy, complexity. Even The Shadow (another great machine!) is not so much fun after long time. The cyberpunk theme is greatly implemented and I love it. The movie was bad? I cannot care less. Actually, I like the movie is a kind of obscure title, it adds to the "undergroundness" of the whole cyberpunk atmosphere. Best pinball machine ever.
It's funny how this machine has way more personality than the movie. I enjoyed it for what it was, but the table here sounds like it has a lot of the odds and ends of the world.
Picked one up at auction for $600 bucks about 15 years ago, got it running & really dig the machine ! Don't know why it was so underrated back then, a Super Sleeper ...
JM in my book is the best 'Jack of all trades' a pinball can be. It has a lot of speed and flow, yet some breaks when using the hand. The Hand 'toy' is far more than a toy but a really well integrated strategic element,... and fun to use for blocking matrix spots in multiplayer games. :D And with it and it's magnet comes the 'magic' and wow-moment. (All this for a reasonable price.) - My only downside with that game: I suck at it. :D That's the only reason JM ist not the best game 'overall' for me. - I've watched your playthrough maybe 30 times over the last years and couldn't even come close... but enjoy watching you play.
Thanks Larry, you got it!!! It's amazing where all these little quotes crop up. You have a cool collection yourself with a decent games room so I would stay where you are!!!!
Good bid, got to play this last night and as you say it's a fast game. Didn't give it much time but will definitely revisit. The Glove on the magnet was awaiting repair but it played OK. Thanks for putting me in contact with the Salisbury group, decent folks and tables. I can't wait to get on a real table again (when less hung-over!)
