Thank you. Had to scroll this far to see Walter's name mentioned. Sad he's gone now too, but the magic they had between thm is undeniable. Whether spot on, coked out, nodding off, fighting onstage playing different songs, always sounded good. I feel like they define that era of rock and roll perfectly.
The Heartbreakers were by a million miles my favourite ever live band - Johnny couldn't really sing and was always off his head, but they were fucking magic!!
What? His voice is fantastic, in between the punkiest rough shouts and the most androgynous male vocalist ever, have you even listened to 'Hurt Me' album at least?
last time i saw him was with stiv bators, handsome dick, cheetah chrome (who is now a politically-oriented a-hole), arthur kane, and somebody else, don't remember who :(. it was just after they finished pulling all the seats outta the paladium, and to avoid the slammers, did just what you did--out with the elbows!
I understand why you might think that, but I love the Dolls and Thunders solo. One of the guys in his band said "johnny had something about him that made you love him no matter what he did" for some reason I agree with that, but I can't tell you why.
