100 years ago, two neurosurgeons at Johns Hopkins made discoveries that laid the foundation of how neuroscientists understand hydrocephalus. From that work, the Johns Hopkins Hydrocephalus and Cerebrospinal Fluid Center (HHCDC) was born, and to this day, Hopkins remains a leader in the field. In fact, they’re on the cutting edge of what could be a new paradigm shift in the treatment of CSF disorders.
The HHCDC’s academic team is a multidisciplinary force. Its researchers work hand in hand with those on the clinical side to generate great patient outcomes and stay ahead of the curve when it comes to treatment. Its upcoming placebo-controlled trial in shunting as a treatment for hydrocephalus has the potential to offer great insight into what the most effective treatments for this disease really are.
The HHCDC has already established itself as a major player in the first 100 years of hydrocephalus and CSF disorder treatment. Now, it’s up to them to shape the next 100 years.
