Exactly. Crazy fact: Richard Petty won his last championship in Dale's first year. Dale won his last the year before Gordon won his first. And Gordon won his last title the year before Jimmie debuted. Like you said, it's all about the era. And now I believe we're close to a new era led by Kyle Larson & Chase Elliott
Dee Jay Ferguson Absolutely! I'm kinda adding Blaney to that mix. He's running strong this year and last. The next generation looks very promising so far. You enjoying the segment racing at all?
Dee Jay Ferguson and I never knew about those facts haha! that's pretty cool. just adds support to it. any argument about, I feel, is really just invalid.
Same main sponsor his entire career, same crew chief since he started, same # since he started, same team since he started, and 7 titles. Consistency= greatness
What a great way to end his speech. Brought me to tears. I love it he is so nervous. And Jeff Gordon picked him out. Two beasts. Goddamn that last statement. Thank you Jimmie.
I've always been a diehard Jeff Gordon fan. I still have the 2002 Dupont Move Carlo diecast that I picked out for my fourth birthday. But I can admit, Jimmie Johnson will always be one of the best race car drivers that ever lived.
I have had the privilege of seeing this guy win at CLT four times, in person. I wish I'd been there in Homestead on that last lap. #48 #SE7EN. Don't thank the fans, Jimmie; we thank YOU for doing something amazing for us.
As an obsessed Dale Earnhardt fan, I can honestly say, I don’t think you can name a stronger driver, crew chief, and owner trio than the trio of Jimmie Johnson, Chad K, and Rick Hedrick in their prime.
Logan Fisher Jimmy is a great driver, but you can't compare him as the 3rd best because of the number of championships. He would only have 4 if they didn't change the format. I'm old school and not a fan of the chase. It makes it possible to be mediocre during the regular season, make the chase and still contend for a championship. Mediocre for 26,then great for 10 doesn't equal the best of 36 to me. That's just my opinion. Everyone has the right to their own.
After Dale senior died he took NASCAR with him but it did leave us with his awesome son Dale jr. And after Dale jr. Quit racing I quit paying attention they'll never be another Intimidator or his son they are the best Long Live number 3
Jimmie has been my driver for as long as i can remember. I get choked up inside when i watch that finish knowing he is along side 2 of the sports greatest. #chasing8
@@nightlock_games not really Jimmie only has 7 more wins and that's with the best equipment and a cheater crew chief Dale was far better than overrated Jimmie
@@nascarandrc8296 oh, hello there, alternate account. Regardless of whether you call Chad a "cheater" or not, him and Jimmie did something right and earned those wins. I'd say that's pretty awesome, up there with Earnhardt's accomplishments.
I've watched 2 drivers win 14 championships. I've watched the 200th win. said goodbye to Winston, Nextel and Sprint. the King still sits amid, to Dale and Jimmy have done us proud , Richard made it last, the goal obtain by both of you, the true racing class. Now 4 drivers around the world, have 7 under their belt. Richard, Dale, Jimmy, and Michael Schumacher himself. The worlds class of champions with the number to beat, is 8 out there for the taking then 7 will be beat.
You may argue the Chase kinda helped win at least 4 or 5 of these championships. The Chase shows how much these drivers can recover and perform when they need to. Still, Johnson is the greatest (for me)
Jack Lawton this new playoff system is the hardest thing to win now and just to show that he can win under 4 different formats shows how great he truly is
The current format is why Dale junior is retiring. It's not real racing and Sr would be vocal about it. He would have burnt France's ears off doing so.
Gordon would probably have 7 championships too if he had raced more years in the same format that Petty and Earnhardt did their whole careers, though. Jimmie would have less championships in that format. The change of format benefited Jimmie bigtime and he took advantage.
Nascar is all about teams. Jimmy's not the best driver in Nascar top 3 but not best wheelman but him and his team deserve 7 because collectively together they are the best in Nascar and they all fought for it. Hes not my favorite driver but Hes extremely humble for all his accomplishments so that's another reason he deserves it. congrats team 48.
Monty Johnson thats how i feel as much as a crybaby and emotion wreck he sometimes can be he is im saying this, is one of the BEST drivers to EVER drive in nascar his attitude and lack of championships may show it, but at only 32 he has another avg 10- 15 years to go and has shown time and time again that he has what it takes to be the next Jimmie of his era when its all said and done there about 12 years apart and with everyone leaving and retiring. Kyle just might be the next jimmie.
@@nascarandrc8296 No he wasn't. That honor still belongs to Richard Pettty. Dale Sr. did not get 200 wins, sadly. "The GOAT" is one of Jimmies nicknames, btw.
@@arbysandtehchief5494 doesn't matter you dumbass petty only won 200 because of the Era he raced under had like 60 races per year and the field was not evenly matched Dale is was and always will be the greatest ever
@@rcracer8872 lol u sound like one of those teenagers who thinks hey know everything Sure Buddy Ur like the Darrell Waltrip Of the RU-vid Comment Section Dont know Shit about New Stuff And is fucking annoying
These is for the ones that don't know but in the old point system he would only have 4 chanpionships. In that point system he was in you could not win a race and become the champion. Let's say you won a crazy amount of 25 wins before the chase starts (hypothetical). Well when the chase starts you are number 1 well you have 5 bad races and 2 top 5 someone who finished in the top 5 or even ten the last races they would win to me the best driver didn't win. That's how he won many times he would do ok before the chase not win the most races and win the last two or three and boom he wins it all if you win the most races and have the most top finishes you should win in my opinion that's how it was back in the day.
@@michaeljordan9488 JR was a great driver and certainly no loser if you weren't a retarded autistic moron you would know that get help kid you're a dumbass
I am one of those that believes that the driver who wins the most races every year should be the champion. In this case, Jimmie Johnson would have five titles, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2012, and 2016.
He won't be them. His on the same level of course, but Jimmie will always be in his own right a driver to remember, a driver that when watching a race, you'll remember Jimmie racing that.
David Pearson is the greatest driver in NASCAR history. Dude had 100 wins running mostly part time in average equipment compared to Petty. If he had half the back as Petty. He would won more than 200
@@nonameb6054 rubbing is racing you pussy snowflake you are out there to win at all cost not make friends Dale Earnhardt is NASCAR's greatest driver ever and way better than Jimmie only a chase champ Johnson will ever be
@@nonameb6054 Jimmie Johnson is nothing compared to Dale Sr the greatest all-time Jimmie Johnson wouldn't even have near 7 championships without the chase making it easier to win a championship now child why dont you go give the phone back to mommy until you actually know something about NASCAR
