it was good and all but i could barely play all the games i wanted, since my parents hadnt the money to buy them and didnt want to buy too many games for me. now although life with worries, we get money from our job to buy the games we want, so is good too. xD

Yo bro i also had pokemon silver. I didnt know what "flash" was at that time and got stuck in a cave for WEEKS. I eventually fumbled my way out. I really wanted restart the game but I grew attached to my pokemon so I just kept escaping from battles and trekked on lol

HG and SS got me back into the series back in 2010-2011. I was a junior in high school at the time and my best friend at the time was begging me to get HG so we could trade between games like the good old days. I was hesitant at first cuz i didn't want people to make fun of me, but eventually I realized it didn't matter as long as I was having fun. And let me tell ya, I had SO much fun with that game. I played so much and was overcome with nostalgia firing it up and choosing my starter. I played so much I started taking the game to study hall cuz the teacher I had let us do whatever. Never forget the time I fought the elite 4 at school while a girl in the class silently watched me play. There will always be something special to me about the jhoto games. ❤

me it was pokemon crystal, loved the upgrade from first gen. I remember i used to create op combo pokemon. Like a Poliwrath with Fissure (from gen 1 trade) and the move Mind reader (from lv-up). It was a 2 hit 100 % K.O cept for flying :D or my Seaking with Double-Edge from trade gen 1 and the move Flail from lv-up

I remember playing Leafgreen before actually touching the previous games and LOVING the sevii islands music. Silver will always be my favorite Pokémon game of all time but I feel like the most definitive edition of Pokémon would definitely be the HGSS remakes.

I complely agree with you. Pokemon Gold was my first pokemon game. My cousin had lent it to me along with the gameboy. I remember when I exchanged pokemons with friends at school or at home, when I sometimes asked them for help because I was stuck somewhere. Or maybe just talk with them about the game itself. Everyone had a pokemon game at the time. I remember how fascinated it was to solve the issue of the slowpoke tail and go through the Ilex Forest for the first time, how difficult it was to beat Whitney with his miltank. The Sudowoodo blocking the route made me waste a lot of hours, I didn't know how to cut that tree (I didn't even knew it was a pokemon!). I was so stupid that I thought to cut it with Razor Leaf but wasn't possible LOL so I damned the game many times for that. Beating the team rocket at the radio tower really made me feel like the hero of the story. The sea to reach Cianwood City confused me a lot, but in the end I managed to reach the island that although small was very welcoming. I let you imagine the excitement of meeting the first red gyarados, it was a unique experience because I didn't know what shiny were at the time. And then... better to stop here the train of memories or I won't finish anymore. I can only say that afterwards I played many other pokemon games. I played Pokemon Red, then I played all the other generations up to the fifth. But I never felt the same emotions I felt during my first adventure. Johto and pokemon gold will always have a special place in my heart.

Whoa, me too! My mom used to be super against pokemon, but fortunately lightened up when I got into 4th grade and got me Heartgold for Christmas. I played that thing obsessively and still have my old cartridge and save file!

Dude play gen3 games if you missed out on those. Emerald and frlg are one of the best games in the series

Well for me it's a;sp pretty nostalgic. Used to play alot of crystal back in the day. Was really happy with the remakes of gen 2.

For me, it was one of the greatest places in pokemon. Maybe i see it with nostalgia , but soulsilver was one of the greatest pokemon games i played. You missed a great pokemon game and a great region.

Bruh, do yourself a favor and get a DS emulator and play HGSS. Then do yourself a bigger favor and get a GBC emulator and play RBY and GSC. They're honestly rites of passage for any Pokemon fan.

I’m 17 lol. First Pokemon game was white in 2010. I’ve tried to get HG on the DS, but ended up getting a fake cartridge that didn’t work, maybe in the future I’ll try an emulator.

@@zyxaplayssomething HG yes, but gen 1 best version is on GBA, leaf green, and HG is already better than GS, no point going through that GBC game. rites of passages do not work, only the best version of each region. so leafgreen, emerald, HGold, Platinum, and on.

PSA: Many of the GBC copies of these games will have dead batteries, meaning you will not be able to save your game. If you do happen to get a copy with a dead battery, don't worry! There's a way to replace the internal battery and it will be good as new. But it does take some extra time, care, and money. An easier way to play Crystal would be to buy the Virtual Console version on the 3DS/2DS eShop, as another comment mentioned. The remakes are excellent as well, and are still perhaps the best Pokemon games in the franchise.
