A tip I heard, for something like the trees/grass, mix a big puddle of colour before you start, that way you can get it down in one go before it has time to dry. I think that is one of the challenges of working outside, dry times are much quicker. I like the finishing touches, gives it depth, and the smaller grey areas work well.
