It's the end of February, and while it may still feel like winter's grip, I'm eager to see if the Lapwings and Skylarks have made their way to our shores.
As I arrive at the beach, the cold winds whip around me, and I find myself completely alone in this serene coastal landscape. But solitude only enhances the anticipation of what I might discover. Among the rugged rocks and crashing waves, I spot a variety of seabirds - Oystercatchers, Shags, Cormorants, and Wigeons - all busy with their daily routines, braving the winter chill.
However, amidst the bustling avian activity, a somber sight catches my eye. A Guillemot lies motionless on the water, its feathers ruffled by the wind. Sadly, it seems to be another casualty of the harsh winter conditions that have taken a toll on thousands of seabirds along our coastlines. It's a stark reminder of the challenges these magnificent creatures face in their struggle for survival.
Undeterred, I continue my quest beyond the beach, hopping into my car to explore further inland in search of the elusive Lapwings and Skylarks. And as luck would have it, I'm rewarded with a spectacular sight - large numbers of Lapwings and Skylarks dotting the fields and meadows, their calls filling the air with the promise of warmer days ahead.
It's moments like these that remind me of the wonders of nature and the importance of preserving our precious wildlife habitats. Join me as we celebrate the beauty and resilience of Norway's early spring migrants, and let's continue to cherish and protect the natural world around us. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more adventures in nature! Until next time, stay wild, my friends.

Another great video, thank you. 40 years ago we had a lot of Lapwings and Skylarks in my region in Germany, today I am really happy, when I find some of them

Thank you. And this is so sad! I think it's very important for us to tell this story about how it used to be. The analogy about boiling a frog I think is very important! We need to speak about the changes! 💚🐦

I'd love to spend a few weeks in Norway, Sweden and Denmark during the winter/spring time. There's so many species we don't get in the UK...top of my list is the Smew! That part with the Guillemot was beautiful in a sad way. I think your images gave it a fitting memorial. 😢 Lovely relaxing video 😊
