Many young men dream of joining Russian Special Forces - Russian Spetsnaz. However, for that to come true, they have to pass a series of incredibly tough endurance tests for Crimson Beret. There’s no room for failure. The slightest hesitation or poor mark and they’re disqualified. Test for Crimson Beret includes running 11 kilometers in full military gear, under conditions similar to a real battle, which is for most, would be unbearable. But for those battling for the right to wear the coveted Crimson Beret, this is just one of the trials that must be passed with flying colors. They also have to shoot accurately, storm buildings quickly and demonstrate outstanding combat skills. Throughout the grueling ordeal, the hardest challenge is to overcome themselves.

You will excuse me, of course, but this is the exam for the maroon beret. An existing fighter of any special unit of the Russian Federation can try to pass this exam. The beret is just a sign of quality, that you are the best of the best. In addition, this is one of the types of differences, there are many special forces and their tasks, as well as their training, are different.

Zu meiner Zeit machte man das auch in Deutschland bei den Fallschirmjäger für das Bordeauxrote Barett . War natürlich nur symbolisch und inoffiziell und ohne das Kämpfen am Ende . Dafür wurden wir am Ende bei +4 Grad draußen aus dem Schlauch mit eiskaltem Wasser vom Schlamm und Scheiße "befreit" durch die wir 13 Km entweder gerannt oder gekrochen haben . Ein einprägendes Erlebnis . ^^

You are required to be a citizen but you can join the army. After 3 years you can apply for citizenship. Then you should be able to join the spetsnaz if i understood it all right.

I like Russia a lot more than the USA, but I also believe there should be no soldiers or mercenaries in this world. Why should anyone in any country completely exhaust themselves just to gain a piece of fabric? Why should anyone want to be drilled to injure and murder other people and to destroy their countries? War is always one of the worst crimes that can be committed.
