After watching a video showing how turkeys have their upper mandibles (beaks) burned or chopped off short, are kept in overcrowded, manure filled barns & hauled to market stacked on top of one another & without water, I gave up eating any product with turkey in it. Then I learned from Farm Sanctuary that human breeding has created birds with breasts too large for the birds to live normally & they have shortened lifespans too. Just want to say...Thank you for all you do! 💙

This does not help stop factory farming at all!! These turkeys that are being "rescued" are a breed that are bred to grow big . So big that they cannot breed naturally and will die of many other painful complications unless they are processed before they suffer . Vote with your wallet with intelligence people. Buy a Thanksgiving turkey from your local farmer that raises heritage turkeys. Put the big factory farms out of business by buying small. Continuing to rescue breeds meant to be eaten only makes the problems you generously hope to solve worse by subjecting an animal to inhumane treatment by continuing it's lifespan. Support your local small farms !!!
