I got to see Rainbow during the Bent out of Shape tour, opening for Blue Oyster Cult at the Long Beach Arena. Always liked Joe Lynn Turner's voice. Great vocalist!
I'm a big fan of the JLT era of Rainbow. I love the Dio albums (they are a little spotty but the highs are very high) but, Straight Between the Eyes was my entry point to the band. I love Slaves and Masters too. It isn't the best Purple album but, it sure as hell isn't the worst. My favorite JLT album period is Odyssey. I wish they'd have done a few more albums together!
It's terrible that Joe feels he needs to defend himself, though I've not heard him sing DP or scream like Gillian Joe has a wonderful timbre to his voice!
If it wasn't for Joe, you would never hear 🌈. They were on mtv all the time and on the radio. I've never heard 🌈 on the radio except since you've been gone. That was the first time ever.
One of the greatest vocalists in rock and roll.... Way to go w interview . Cut runs deep. Fire in tge basement.... king of dreams...too much is not enough... wicked ways... Off the top of my head.... The first cd i ever bought
That's understandable! Coverdale joined Deep Purple after the previous two singers, so it seemed logical that he should expect to sing at least some MKII era songs on stage, just as Gillan never refused to sing songs from Purple's MKI period on stage (which originally featured his predecessor Rod Evans). On the other hand, I don't see why Gillan would agree to sing songs from Purple MKIII, since that line-up came after him and, what's more, if it doesn't suit him vocally and lyrically!
@@ozzyvaldez1265 And why should Gillan sing Purple MKIII songs if he doesn't want to? That's his choice. Anyway, even if that had been the case, I'd have a really hard time hearing songs from the Coverdale/Hughes era sung by Gillan, just as I had a hard time hearing songs from the MKII era butchered by Coverdale/Hughes (it hurt my ears).
I ve seen Joe lynn turner and deep purple on stage at marseille (south france) in 1991. It s one of my best live i ve ever seen , absolutely amazing , incredible vibrations. BURN in intro , Love conquers all , highway star etc etc etc great voice; THANKS FOR ALL
I always think he was harshly treated. It would've been better for him if Ritchie picked a new name for the band after Ronnie left. The music style and musicians all changed but were all judged by that first incarnation of the group.
I wouldn't say that. It was a good album with some great songs ("King Of Dreams," "Fire In The Basement" and "Too Much Is Not Enough") but that's about it.
Excellent singer/frontman. Had the good fortune to meet JLT in a relaxed setting, with my old friend Elliot Rubinson (R.I.P) JLT was ALSO a really nice guy. Listen to his version of "Stone Cold" with swedish musicians - great track!
Joe is honest as the day is long love the guy. He comes in offers his opinion and seems to be a team player thats rare i loved Rainbow. But this will blow you away when i say Joes best work is in Sunstorm i fucking love Edge of Tomorrow and. Road to Hell i dont care for them now Joe is gone and that poor guy who had to replace Simone who is top five guitarist in my opinion is not in the same league the songs are not as good
