FYI...I am sad to report that while knitting with Cascade 220 Superwash Merino, I employed this join method while working a baby afghan. The sad part is, the knot came undone. This necessitated 'tinking' back to the join to make a new join. Moving forward, I will use the Russian join.
Yes, superwash is one of the yarns where you really don't want to use a magic knot! I am generally a big fan of magic knot, but was looking for something else for superwash and was very confused to find this video. I'm sorry you used it in a project and had to redo some work, but at least it sounds like it happened while you were still working on it, not after it was finished! If anyone else finds this video, I wouldn't recommend doing this with superwash. Superwash tends to be slippery, and magic knot works best with yarns that can felt at least a little. Superwash, however, is designed to not felt or shrink. You obviously may be able to get away with it sometimes (depends on the type of superwash, I'm sure), or the video would have a lot more negative comments, but in general, not a great idea.
