What do the stars even mean

@@haywoodjblome4768 The stars indicate the rarity of the behavior of the pokemon. A photo of a pokemon that is just standing will receive one star. If that pokemon is doing something else, a photo of that will receive more stars.

@@mephostopheles3752 pose type, basically you can collect photos of the same pokémon species doing different acts. so if you have a photo were they are walking, and in the new photo they are dancing you keep both in the album.

@@mephostopheles3752 In the old game, if you found Pikachu on a surfboard or something, it would automatically be the best photo you can get, and that made the game more boring and predictable. This new system encourages you to try a variety of shots while still acknowledging the special rare behavior. Star number is the category, star color is the quality. 4 star photos might be harder to find, but you still need quality photos in all categories to make progress. Not 'intentionally shitty' photos.

@@Gaming_Garo it's not "rarity" though, it's literally categories of varying behaviors, for example, graveler hanging on walls is the most common that you see in lava level, but it's a 2 star behavior. It's simply category of activity.

@@ricorichardson5945 Why do we even argue? Just look up 10:27. Mirror is explicitly saying, that he is categorizing pictures by, how usual the behavior is. And Graveler hanging on the wall might in the world of Pokémon be a bit more unusual than it sitting around like the dumb rock it is.

@@cieragraves600 nothing in particular. Arin just seemed pretty depressed during quarantine because he and Dan had to stay apart and now that he and Dan are back together he sounds much happier!

The first few hours of this are a bit grindy and repetitive, basically playing the same two courses over and over with minor changes each time. Past that the game really opens up, but its not short. We're looking at like a 30 part series unless they cut out some of the progression, and I just don't see them doing that with such a repetitive game. I could be wrong. I'd love to be wrong. I'm just going off of what I know.

I think every person I've watched play this has made that mistake, and it's an understandable mistake considering the number Stars means quality in almost every other context ever. It's not exactly a bold prediction to think Arin of all people would be confused about it.

This was pretty easy to grasp, but many streamers screwed this up. It was frustrating.

@@_korbo_ Imagine not being alone and being distracted, or talking to someone at that exact moment, and missing the ONE LINE that clarifies the Star system. It wouldn't be so much of a problem if the number of stars wasn't used to indicate higher or lower quality in literally EVERY OTHER CASE in the world. But because of that, it makes it really difficult to deduce if you do miss the relevant info. And even if you read what they said, it's fighting against a lifetime of instinctual knowledge about what the number of Stars means, in a game about BEING RATED ON YOUR PHOTO QUALITY. I'm not saying it's the game's fault - but it's really not that hard to grasp how someone could be confused by it, without insisting that anyone who does is literally fucking illiterate. I watched a movie dozens of times before I ever registered a character saying a certain line - because everytime the movie was at that part, I always had similar thoughts about the lines or scene before it, and wasn't paying as much attention. Your brain does weird things and you aren't always in full control of it.

I think he asked which button is the A button, prolly still thinking of games where the controller prompts didn't match the button labels on the gamepad they were using.

And we ALL love him because of it...

He was confused in that moment because the game wasn’t letting him take pictures, they were only letting him move the cursor thing around. So he was pressing A and nothing was happening.

@@astrowolvez that's poor design choice really. the amount of stars does not indicate quality in this game, only what kind of pose the pokémon did. could have gone with A B C D instead of stars

@@astrowolvez Yeah, the stars have nothing to do with your score. The stars are like a rarity score of what the Pokémon is doing (what pose they're in, if they're eating something, if they're interacting with another Pokémon, ect.). 4,000 points and above is what makes your stars diamond, and you want to get diamond 1 star, diamond 2 star, diamond 3 star, and diamond 4 star photos to have a "completed" pokedex.

@BlindingHornet The algorithm changed a while back to favor standalone videos that aren't part of a series now, so a lot of creators who make do longer series shifted to a model that makes it look like each episode is entirely its own thing, even if it's not. They don't want just the same people watching a series all the way through, they want to constantly have new viewers because that's what accelerates the channel and gets new subscribers - and it's easier to pull new viewers into what looks like just some random video about something that doesn't require that you've seen other videos for context. A lot of people won't even click on a video that is many parts deep into a series they haven't seen, so if you can at least get them to click it, they might enjoy what they find and stay. I'm not saying I agree that this is how things should work, just explaining how it does.
