I only buy Usborne books if it's something required for a curriculum and I always look at discount sites first. I feel like they are overpriced for what you get BECAUSE they are an MLM.
I definitely didn't know it worked like this, I had tossed around the idea of joining for the same reason. This totally doesn't add up to actual savings and doesn't seem worth it at all. Thank you for sharing!
I just stumbled upon this video, and full disclosure - I am a Team Leader for UBAM. For the record, the $8/month for the website is month-to-month so it's not something you have to pay UNLESS you are wanting to place an order that month. I feel like you made it sound like it was a required monthly cost, which it's not if you're only a discount-consultant. Also, our shipping has been revamped so now orders over $100 in retail ship for a flat rate of $6.95. :) As far as your comment about not having support from your upline, it sounds like you just ended up on a not-so-great team. Most leaders are much more available and hands-on with their new team members than it sounds like your experience showed. Sorry your experience wasn't the best!
Snorted into my coffee a little by your comment about a 9-year-old being an "older kid" (they are always your baby!). We had the SAME issue here....it is mostly targeted to the younger set. My 10-year-old doesn't really care for their novel assortment and has already breezed through most of the science non-fiction stuff. Usborne has been good but we are having to move on.
