Stand Name: Time in a Bottle Stand User: Right Hand Man Destructive Power: N/A Speed: N/A Range: A Staying Power: D Precision: E Developmental Potential: C Ability: The user is able to gather the "sands of time" as long as it is active, giving them complete control over the flow of time. By turning Time in a Bottle counterclockwise, they can slow down time. By turning it clockwise, they can speed it up. By holding it sideways, they can stop it completely. Stand Name: Tribute Stand User: Henry Stickmin Destructive Power: C Speed: A Range: D Staying Power: C Precision: B Developmental Potential: A Ability: Anything this Stand punches will be sent to another timeline of the user's choosing. For example, they can send someone to a timeline where they never met the user, thus removing any aftereffects of such an event.
Reference’s range is actually really far (0:16)it’s not a Close Combat stand as it’s sent way farther than 2 meters which is star platinums range and which his range is considered C rank so his range is probably B or A
I like how dense the references are You have Gold Experience in the design for References, and some posing as well with 0:36 similar to Cioccolata's beatdown Sands of Time is kind of like The World despite being a little more manual, but plays with the villains all having Time-based Stands "Sands of Time" is even Bottled Time in the subtitles in reference to the dubbed Stand names usually having different names for copyright reasons. I didn't catch what References was actually named. "Stands" are also vocally referred to but are "Spirits" in the subtitiles Henry can punch people into other Timelines, similar to Dirty Deeds' The Jojo protagonist-sounding theme in the instrumentation, sounding similar to Giorno's theme; and when Sands of Time is used it plays a song similar to Dio's theme You could say the Toppats are like the Speedwagon Foundation and the modifications are similar to Stroheim's just for the sake of the scene, even though they already existed before Relating to Stroheim and Dio as well, "Brakamono Ga" and "Shine!" are two rather quotable lines from those two characters which are both used in this scene The dialogue is all pretty accurate, and the expressions and attitudes of the characters are all actually pretty faithful, I really enjoy how played straight it all is, and how serious things actually look when the gun is pulled on Henry And of course the most obvious "To Be Continued" joke at the end I *love* how tightly packed this is, it really does feel like a labor of love inside another labor of love; being the collection itself!
I think also Henry's stand shouts "failure", which is similar to Giorno's "Useless" You could also say the pose Henry does before "Time in a bottle" is used to stop time is akin to Kira Yoshkarge's pose
There's an even more subtle joke too. While the subtitles say Bottled Time you can hear the Right Hand Man is actually saying "Time in a Bottle", which is an old song by Jim Croce. The joke being that Bottled Time is the localized Stand name.
One of reference's ability is to swap places with the user, so henry could use that once time resumes and the bullet will fly right through reference since only spirits can hurt other spirits.
God, if Henry was just a bit smarter and a bit more cunning, he might've been able to anticipate that, and swap places with his stand so the gun wouldn't have any effect. As he would now be shooting a stand instead of Henry, and physical objects dont work against stands
This is just incredible. Not only are all the references meticulously planned out, but even the stand abilities are unique, fully functional stands that tie in with the rest of the story. Ex. Reference's ability is to make references to other things and bring them into reality. When Henry and Reference switch places they don't actually switch places, Henry simply used Reference to reference himself, disguising his stand and allowing him to sneak in a punch. When Right-hand-man was punched into an alternate dimension, Henry made a reference to an alternate timeline to merge right hand man with an alternate version of himself, somewhat like Funny Valentine using D4C (the original body is destroyed, but the new Valentines memories are replaced with the old one's). This power explanation would explain the entirety of the Henry Stickmin timeline, enabling Henry to use tools that are not expected to be available to him like Mario's mega mushrooms and the Falcon kick, as well as being able to merge with a new timeline whenever he fails.
Spirit names: Time in a bottle(RHM) Reference(Henry) Crazy emerald(Reginald) Ikea Pistols(Sven) sticky Train(Mr macbeth) The greatest plan(Charles) Force girl(Ellie)
There’s also a reference in the Mr. Macbeth fight when you choose the “Bribe” option in the “Act” button, where it references the infamous “KOICHI REALLY STEALS? NO DIGNITY” line from what is colloquially known as the Duwang translation!
@@AmateurStorytime When Henry tried to throw emerald at Right Hand Man he didn't do damage and I think that's also a jojo reference, you know "No one can just deflect the emerald splash"
@@filipstepien2943 Bruh that was not a jojo reference. It's just that gemstones are heavy when they're your own size, so you can't throw them very far away. They did that too in Stealing the Diamond and Infiltrating the Airship
There's been one since the original stealing the diamond. The worm during the Shrink ray fail does Dio's cry from Heritage of the Future. Now its jam packed with some really wonderfully Bizarre ones though..
@@ukrainiangigachad this might be a r/woooosh thing but: Both of their stands are either the gun or the guns inhabitants, not an actual gun. Therefore they defy the guns are useless logic
@Flamer Maniac yes and no, it sends you to an alternate TIMELINE. While d4c sends you to a parallel universe. Similar abilities, just one affects space while the other affects time.
FrenchisDealer Actually he punches them into an alternative timeline, and when they get to that timeline they undergo the changes they would have went through in that timeline.
This is the best failure in the whole series. The effort they went into making this failure special shows how much they care. The japanese dialogue, the explanations of special attacks, the poses. Even the name of RHM's stand is Time In A Bottle which is also a real song and yet the subtitles slightly changes it to Bottled Time just to avoid copyrights like they did in the actual show.
Let’s not forget that the Stone Mask, the quote “Henry really bribes? No dignity” The Rock Paper Scissors Boy, a slight hint to Joseph Joestar’s name and Steely Dan’s localized name in the Bios AND the Torture Dance are in this game lol (Edit: Resolved everything.)
This was honestly one of my biggest hopes for the game, along with Dragon Ball and Pokémon, and we got all 3! And I absolutely LOVE how they went all out with these, even giving JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure 5 references that I’ve found so far! (This one, the “No dignity” fail screen, the Stone Mask in the Cleaned ‘em Out Ending, Rohan Kishibe & Ken Oyanagi playing Rock Paper Scissors in the Toppat Base in the Special BROvert Ops route, and the brief Torture Dance in the “Diversion” option of the “Triple Threat” Ending)
Drone Xone Gon is indeed there, but the boy with the white hair that Gone is playing with, due to the name in the bio and hole in his cheek, is a reference to Ken Oyanagi from Part 4.
In addition to all the references, can we just appreciate the song accompanying it all that actually carries that JoJo feel to it? Especially that build up to Henry (almost) landing the final blow from revealing the power he just used. It's hard to put it into words exactly what it is, but it's just all done so right.
I love the fact that they hired Japanese voice actors, design the 2 characters stand's, make 3 fucking themes that are parodies to the originals from jojo and the same time good ones. (Still waiting for full Henry's theme :c) Edit, I just realize that Also all male characters are voiced by one guy, and all female characters are voiced by another person, *He literally dub the 2 Japanese voices and all the game.*
Those aren't Japanese voice actors. They sound a little choppy and "broken" to actually be Japanese. They are speaking Japanese though. It's just that they are not Japanese
@@zux128 He actually said 'Hontouni' or '本当' Which when translated in that context meant 'You really think?', which was what the Right Hand Man said. So, 'Hontouni fisto na stop me' Personally assuming that the 'stop me' was just there because animes often use English words in their sentences randomly.
I love that this actually conveys a lot about Jojo stands and how fights involving them go pretty well. The danger the opponents pose not being based on the sheer power, but how they obfuscate what the power is (See: Right Hand Man telling Henry how Time in a Bottle works on a base level to goad him into assuming the rest), the mood and stakes of a given fight, the villain having a time-controlling Stand, even the song references that get changed in localization to avoid copyright issues.
failing was part of his plan for actually getting into stickmin failed timelines in order to become a meme and have ability to be spread through people getting to know and remembering about him
Alright, let's go over these characters individual -Stand- Spirit abilities. Spirit User: Henry Stickman Spirit Name: Reference Reference is a fairly standard spirit, being able to punch with considerable strength and speed. However, it has the unique ability to swap places with the user at will. If Reference is able to punch an enemy so hard that they fly into a wall or object, that object will break the fabric of the universe, becoming a portal. When this portal is entered, the user is able to use a D4C like ability and enter alternate timelines. If a person enters a timeline with an alternate version of themself in it, they will assume a state identical to the alternate, but the victim's memories will remain the same. Spirit User: Right Hand Man Spirit Name: -Time in a bottle- Bottled Time For as long as Bottled Time is active, the sands of time will collect inside of it. Once enough sands are collected, the user can flip it over, slowing time to a crawl. From the outside, it gives the appearance that the user is moving with superhuman speed. If active for roughly 30 seconds, Bottled Time can collect enough sands to completely stop time when flipped, with seemingly no limit to the duration of the time stop. While an extremely powerful Spirit, it offers little to no offense or defense, even while active.
I love the way henry's theme ramps up. Then stops and switches to villain's theme. Then villain's theme stops for a moment of silence... And when it ends, henry's theme resumes.
This would actually be a very good stand idea, being able to switch places with the user and punch people into other timelines. And a sand based stand, that slows time instead of freezing, skipping, reversing, or accelerating
If you think about it, Henry’s ability makes perfect sense. Because the fact that he can choose alternate endings that could go his way or not actually fits his stand.
It's interesting how Henry's stand has the ability to punch into alternate timelines given how the entire series goes through multiple time lines of Henry failing and succeeding in multiple ways
Refrence has the potential to be the most powerful character entirety of The Henry Stickmin series only being held back by the fact that he is a Jojo refrence
Stand User: Henry Stickman Stand Name: Great Escape Stand: ability- when the user goes through something he deems unjust [ G R E A T E S C A P E ] will send it’s user into an alternate timeline where another choice was made. If the different outcome is still unjust to the user his stand can do it again until the user goes through a scenario he deems worthy
And the fail screen is a reference to It's Always sunny in Philadelphia, where Charlie says that burning trash creates smoke that turns into stars, to which Mac replies "That doesn't seem right, but I don't know enough about stars to dispute it."
ight i think i know how "Reference" works its basically like a requiem stand in the sense that it manipulates souls like SCR and GER. So its got two abilities. The first one being that the stand can swap with its user. The second being its more stronger ability in that it can swap other people with alternate versions of themselves. Basically, their soul stays in the current universe their in, while their body is switched with one from an alternate universe. The catch is that Reference's user needs to know whether or not that version of that user is reasonably possible (it can't just replace the enemy with a crippled version of himself unless the user knows of a decision that the enemy could've taken that would've resulted that way. say that the enemy was mere seconds away from getting their arm blown off, but reacted in time before that happened. If the user of reference knew of this possibility, he could replace the enemy with a version that doesn't have an arm). One limitation of this ability, however is that the user may bring in a version of the enemy that can put the user at a disadvantage (say after the enemy lost his arm, he was able to stroheim it into a more dangerous one, or in this case, Henry brought back a version of right hand man who still had their stand because Henry assumed that the stand was tied to RHM's augmentations). btw i think the non-local name of Reference would probably be Cameo after the band and its ability to allow the user to "make cameos" by swapping with his stand and swapping enemies with alternate versions of themselves
I really like the fact that even as an entire reference they still got the battle dynamics of JoJo right. You have flashy wtf abilities with similarly bizarre events surrounding said abilities. Stand ability reveals also feel both like external and internal monologues. But the core of it all is how strategic these two are. It isnt simply a slugfest like most of P3 is. Its also a battle of wits and guile.
Stand name: [Reference] Stand user: [Henry Stickmin] Power: A Speed: A Range: C Durability: B Precision: A Potential: A Ability: [Reference] has the ability to let the user jump between timelines, it normaly activates whenever the user fails in whatever mission the user was trying to acomplish but it can also be activated manually or by punching a person who the user decides to take with him to the other timeline. whenever a person\Object is taken to the alternative timeline, they will take the form they would have in that time line, this will not affect memory or the opponetn's [Stand]
I believe (Unless it's been stated before, I dunno.) that the theme that plays when Henry reveals「Reference」is actually based on that one fan-made Jolyne theme: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u9x4jGpDwfM.html Thats just what it sounds like to me though, so I could be wrong.
Right Hand Man Lines : “Oh? I see you have a Spirit. Hmm.. I heard Reference packs Quite the punch. As long as I can avoid his attacks I’ll be fine. AAAAAAAAH. Bottled Time! You didn’t think I had a spirit too? Bottled Time asorbs the sand of time as I keep it activated. One turns the bottle off and I can slow time at will! it’s the ultimate spirit! Oh, you think your wimpy fist is enough to knock me out? What is happening..... Impossible. What happened to my augmentations? Aargh! ... You Utter Fool! Did you think my spirit was connected to my augmentations? I had it activated the whole time. I was able to collect enough sands of time to completely freeze time! Now.... DIE!”
But wait, how would this count as a fail? If he shoots, he simply killed the Henry from an alternate timeline while the original Henry (the one we’re playing as) is completely fine! Not to mention he’s stuck in this alternate timeline! Ugh...my head hurts....how does this work again?
I like to imagine the timeline Henry's spirit punched the Right Hand Man into was one of the other paths of the game. Such as the Ruby or the Evidence path where they never really directly interacted and the Right Hand Man never transformed into a cyborg.
GSPI Henry and Charles be like: Henry, what's going on? Why do I hear boss music? I dunno, Charles, but I'm seeing what seems to The Right Hand Man fighting...a version of me with robot parts? And there's also some weird blue robot with them? Huh, that is pretty weird Henry. You know what? Just ignore them. We got what we came for. They're not worth the trouble. GSPI Reginald be like: Hmm, where is Right Hand Man? He's not usually this late to our meetings. And...why do I hear boss music????????
Here’s what could happen for Henry to win: Henry switches places with reference and the bullet passes through bc guns are useless against stands. Assuming that all sands of time are used up after stopping time, The right hand man is helpless, even with his stand activated. 5 page failure him to death. Easy.
