Looked a little weird to me too how at the end those boys were surprised that it started then. Should have given the boys a few seconds before the race
Jason Parra ran a great race alone with Josh bell. Sticking with that top group and hanging on for the whole race. Definitely not expected to be the top Cali finishers but ran great races
Parra has impressed me since he was a freshman/sophomore. He's never been afraid to run with the best in the country and has progressively become one of them. Notre Dame landed a beast.
This was a great finale for him. Think he may have been injured the beginning of the season or just had a few rough races. He ran real smart and showed lots of bravery here. Bell on the other hand just went beast mode start to finish.
You run the course that exists under the conditions that exist. Doesn't matter what your pedigree has been coming into this day. The ones who won were the best runners on this course on this day.
I've watched the Indianapolis kid all yr & wasn't surprised at how well he preformed. At Midwest NXR he set the course record at Levern Gibson, Terre Haute Indiana. He'll be attending Notre Dame. He's a great young man.
Utah is the future of high school distance running. Jojo Jordan from Olympus placed first, Austin Westfall from Orem took fourth, and of course Herriman and AF went 1 and 2.
Danny Simmons is the best runner in the field but unfortunately got out to a rough start. The messed up course resulted in rough tangents to navigate through whilst passing dozens on top tier runners. Despite all this, he scored 1 point for his team. Anything better would have been about personal accolades only, which was not his priority. Congrats to Jojo and Herriman for their wins.
Are you putting words in his mouth? How does he feel about it? And whose fault is it that he got out to a rough start? I just don't feel like it's appropriate to make excuses on his behalf.
Going out too fast is one of the worst things you can do. You get into anaerobic threshold much faster. My best races in college were always going out at pace and then figuring out when tokick based on how much you have left.
Thanks for the delayed release. Really sad that nike controls the only live coverage, and subscription required. No way to spotlight a fantastic sport!
I ran the Runninglane cross championships with my team on this day, and it was even worse conditions. I was the only one on my team to run within a minute and a half of my fastest time, and it’s supposed to be the fastest course in the US. Every stride you had to rip your foot out of the mud. It hurted.
I’ve had lateral left hip pain for over two months now. I just want to be able to run, jog, anything without pain. I would love to be able to run 30 minute 5k road races the rest of my life with no pain.
I’ve had that before and it’s usually starts with problems in your foot. But another issue I have is a leg length discrepancy. Get yourself checked out
Anyone know what happened to noonan? He still did awesome but I just thought he would be up there with the top guys. He beat Josh bell at state so he should’ve been in there with the top 10. He finna win it next year as a senior tho
sorry I'm late. So, Califorina just had their state meet 1 week prior. Most of these teams had almost a month of rest time to prep for this race, hence most California individuals tend to not preform their best at nxn, for example Sadie. Top leval runner, just exhausted from the state meet. hope this helps!
lol it’s funny until it’s you😂 that’s why I find it so hard to laugh at things like this or when someone trips on the hurdles or something cause that could easily be me😂😂😂
I think a lot of runners weren’t getting registered by that mat for some reason. Bandukwala was said to be in 6th but he was 11.5 seconds back from first, and you could see in the race that there were about 40 or 50 runners within 11 seconds of first, so it must’ve just been an error
Times mean nothing in xc. All that matters is placement because every course is different. You can’t compare times. One week I ran 1 minute faster than I did the previous week purely because it was a super flat course.
What a crappy layout to determine a national championship. Those turns are ridiculously tight under the best of conditions and then with it wet it’s just silly. guys wiping out, grabbing railings, come on man lol
