Now hear me out I have a theory you might all like: "What if when Joseph got Dio's blood back into him at the end of part 3 he actually became DIO and wasn't joking. If DIO changed to Josephs body he would have full control of the bodily functions including the brain. So when Jotaro asked Joseph questions Dio had control over Joseph's memories and was able to answer the questions by using Joseph's brain and memories? Joseph was drained of all his blood for hours which can easily conclude he was likely dead especially because you see Josephs spirit leave his body when his blood was drained. When he died. In that time between part 3 to part 6 he could have easily taken over another healthy body to use. A vampire is technically classified as undead anyways so just because DIO's body is destroyed doesn't mean hes fully gone. Also if you mix the wrong blood type into another person they would die anyways but joseph is still alive. The green baby was reborn as DIO because he had the bone of DIO in it. Which was johnothan's bone anyways. Who says his blood cannot be used to create another Dio? Another idea is that when Dio took over johnothans body he was able to use Hermit purple which is a spiritual manifestation of a stand from Johnothan. And was able to use hermit purple through joseph in part 4 too. Also Araki confirmed Joseph was still alive in part 6 through Hamon user lifespan. However Vampires are also immortal to age and considering old joseph wore alot of clothes to cover up from the sun in part 4 he could be protected from burning to death or he could have switched bodies to another person instead. TL:DR If Dio can be reborn using a single bone what stops him from being reborn by about a couple of litres of vampire blood when given to Joseph? I had the original idea of this theory. He only was drained from his blood for a few minutes not hours and a bit of hamon breathing easily expells vampiric cells from ones body and if it were Dio since he's immortal why is Joseph's body still aging
mind-blowing theory, but Dio is def alr dead and Joseph is himself. Joseph is a master hamon user, to the point he doesn't need to hamon breath in order for it to be active on his body. Vampiric cells die upon contact with the hamon energy on the user's body. Joseph was without his blood for a couple of minutes, and even if he died, his soul could have just come back to his body once his blood was wtih him again. It is most likely that that joke was probably Joseph being in bloodlust (like turning into a vampire) and then his Hamon simply killed every single vampire cell on his body.
