Thank you guys for making this editor-friendly video. Some of us just want to get stuff done, and we are not interested in creating the next Star Wars. While this one was a little on the short side, we nevertheless need these kinds of videos. Here's a suggestion. There are lots of people pushing the whole "cinematic" look. What about the opposite? I mean, how about some tutorials involving color correction, where the goal is to make a video look the most true-to-life? You could write a book about color temperature and correction. (Hence the popularity of DaVinci's software.) Adding a "cinematic" tint is easy. Making video that looks exactly like real life is tough. It would be awesome if HitFilm had a color card feature to automatically tune the RGB channels. Just another hint.
Hi there, a step by step tutorial to grade like joker with hitfilm tools would be much appreciated, like how to duplicate layer to fix skin tones on the top layer and changing background look with layer below for instance.
Dus Opki Not to say that it couldn’t be improved, but exporting is the easy part... just hit the button and let the computer do its thing! Go grab some dinner or watch a movie while it renders. Render time is a fact of life for all NLEs
@@triforcefx They could do much to improve the rendering performance for people with AMD video cards. I've already dropped a hint about Hitfilm's need for hardware encoding through AMD video cards, but to no avail yet. I got some excuses about AMD video cards having shoddy built-in encoding (especially for the x.264 format), but the bottom line is that other software does it just fine, and even faster than real-time. For example, we use Streamlabs OBS, which encodes and records our videos to the Cineform format at 23 Mbps locally while *simultaneously* streaming a re-encoded version live at 6 Mbps using the encoder of the AMD card. It doesn't even hiccup. We occasionally get about 90% utilization with multiple browser tabs and other punishments, but rarely lose a frame across both high-definition renders. The folks at HitFilm simply need the will and a reallocation of resources to give their software that kind of power. Somebody needs to mention that with AMD's newest offerings, it is poised to overtake NVidia as the leader with both gamers and editors. Pay attention folks. Thus, we need to drop these hints on a regular basis. I honestly wouldn't trade HitFilm for anything, including Adobe's offerings, but come on guys! Make it happen and stop blaming the tools.
Health Wyze Media There’s definitely improvements to be made and they’re paving the way for it... 2019 added Hardware Decoding for everyone, I believe they’ve said that one of the next big things on their radar is to add hardware encoding for everyone. As much as we’d all like them to add new features and improvements faster, their dev team is extremely small compared to the likes of Adobe or DaVinci. It’s amazing what they’ve managed to do without the big teams.
@@triforcefx The company seems to be comprised of a small but elite group. Thus, I try not to crack the whip too much in my public criticisms. In fact, they have more-or-less caught up with Adobe on most of the important stuff, after having the disadvantage of being something like a decade behind them, and with them having something like 1/100th of the staff. In some ways, HitFilm is superior, as it has an all-in-one interface, it's not rent ware, it's overall faster (despite the slowed rendering on some hardware), it's less crashy, the interface is so much simpler (easy to learn) and etc. As an old techie from a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, my perspective is that they have done something miraculous already. Nevertheless, the direction of the program's development sometimes makes me want to pull my hair out. It's like they so often forget about the basics (the boring stuff) like more encoding options or fixing broken features in lieu of adding 'cool stuff', such as yet another effect that could be utilized to make the next Harry Potter scene. (eye roll) They strike me as being wonderful people, but it also seems like most of them never fully grew up, as is the case for so many amongst the younger generations. I believe that they really need an adult in the crowd to crack the whip about doing the work which isn't fun. That could be a new position for them. That is, they could hire a "Chief Disciplinary Officer", who could be the cranky old jerk (like me) who forces them not to forget about the little problems which aren't always so little to other people.
