@@apoorvanand3721 it's been a while since I've played the game but yes I believe the joker kidnapped black mask a few days before the start of the game and then pretended to be him
@@BeyondElite - Hi! I have a question, it's been driving me crazy... is this a censored version of the game? In mine, when Joker beats down Black Mask in the bank vault, it's much more brutal and you can see the strikes, in this one it's off-screen... any idea why? thank you
@@randallflagg3700 I've heard someone else say this I suppose it depends what country it's from maybe?? This was a UK PS3 version of the game if that helps
@@BeyondElite - Thank you for the fast answer, my copy is a Xbox 360 one from the US, I'll look into it and check if there are more censored scenes or if it was just this one. Now I'm curious ^^
Even better is later on when he's talking to the assassins as Roman he says something and starts to giggle like the Joker, in Black Masks voice, and catches himself. Troy Baker destroyed that moment, when you notice it its such a small thing that makes a huge difference. He's not Mark Hamill, but he holds his own in the role for sure.
His facial expressions, mannerisms, and voice acting when Batman saves him is just out of this world FANTASTIC. "Now why....why...why would you DO that??" Amazing acting.
This is how the joker is supposed to be like this game depicted the perfect interpretation the joker is supposed to be a combination of silliness and sickness the live action failed to balance this like the mask the only difference one uses what he has for good and the other for bad jack got the silliness heath got the sickness but origins joker got both even managed to be more of a criminal mastermind than both combined and he's deadlier crazier more intelligent more evil better dressed and way more menacing more diabolical and more sadistic and more charismatic than both too
@@BlackangelKatakuri phoenix is far cry from this lol he was just a mentally ill punk mad at the world he was way better in gladiator and the master which is arguably his best role than joker
The editing in the cutscenes are so underrated. It’s like watching a Hollywood movie. Hate how this game got so much shit. It was a solid ass game with well written dialogue and story
@@pakawaka2365 They made the graphics look worse than Arkham City and honestly with all that makeup on just make Joker whiter and he's young. He wasn't even given the same smile or has his smile always smiling. They just fucked up Origins. It wanted to be it's own thing but have the name tagged on just to sell the game.
OMG look at this RU-vid. +TheRealComicBookGamer His intro for the Aroham Knight Hush Rant is just blowing me away. Trust me you will be extremely amazed. Idk why but it's just addicting to watch
This game is definitely the best of the series but personally I like Mark Hamill as the joker more, that's probably just because I have watch him as joker more times than Troy Baker.
luck? wtf are you talking about. Mark Hamill isn't flat and dull, both actors are great. I said I like him cuz I have been watching him as THE JOKER more than troy bake.
Dude, for real. I wanted to play it again so bad, along with a couple other last gen titles like Mafia II, that I bought a used PS3. But the performance is so atrocious on PS3 that it’s nearly unplayable. It honestly holds 30fps maybe 30% of the time. It also constantly freezes when you’re gliding around to load the textures. I don’t know how we did it last gen. Mafia II runs like dog shit too. I have them both on PC but I’m driving trucks now so I have to stick with console. Sucks.
Danny They’re still both at 720p though with gross shadows and significant performance dips. Plus I was also replaying them for the PS trophies. I got the platinum trophy for Mafia II but it’s impossible on Arkham Origins now since they shut down the servers and half the trophies are multiplayer related. Devs should always separate multiplayer trophies from single player trophies so you can still platinum a game ten years later.
I can get behind that. I know why it wasn't included in the Return To Arkham pack, but christ almighty Origins was underrated. I'd even go as far as to say it was my favourite. Which, to be fair I haven't finished City and its been years since I've gone back to it. But the bosses in this game were *Italian kiss*.
I love how Joker at first thought Batman was just an obstacle in his playground, but after he was saved by him, his entire world got fixated on the Bat
Well, there was the female Joker that kinda loved Batman. I think the Joker has a gay thing for Batman. He likes to be beaten up by him. He laughs the whole time!
Even though I don't fancy how they reused Joker too much. But I can't deny that the story telling for Arkham series origins is very well written. And the dialogue is so great.
Thaibiohazard123 I agree. Origins isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Sure, it was glitchy, and didn't really try to expand on the gameplay from Arkham City, but the story was great, the voice acting was great, and the game was fun to play. What little changes there were, I enjoyed. It's funny how people declared the game non-canon and even went as far as to say that Rocksteady themselves said it wasn't. That's clearly bullshit, since Arkham Knight acknowledges events from Origins.
DNGaming Looked too grey? Are you kidding me? He looked way more grey in the last two games, especially Asylum. That's always been part of his design in the games and comes straight from the comics. What, did you want Batman to be completely black?
Arkham Origins is such an underrated game. Its crazy to me that this game got mediocre reviews across the board while the incredibly inferior, Arkham Knight, got nines and tens from almost everyone. I feel like a lot of the hate was just because it wasn't made by the original studio.
Teivel New doesn't equal good. We learned that with Arkham Knight. It had the great gameplay of Arkham City (+ Crime Scene Investigation) and it had a great story. What else do you need?
This is what I hate in current game industry. You create a sequel with little to no new gameplay stuff - it's bad. You create new game and don't innovate in anything, but it has good story - it's perfect (TLoU). You create game with little content, mediocre gameplay and charge 60$ for it - GOTY (overhype)
Mark Hamill would do a great job as an older live-action Joker. If you've watched CW's The Flash (yeah, I agree it's terrible but that's not the point) you'll see that Hamill's role as The Trickster, while being a blatant ripoff of The Joker, was absolutely perfect.
I love how at 4:18 Joker get's so excited when Bane steps towards him - it's written on his face. And then at 7:40 where he drops his gun after pissing Bane off - embracing what's coming for him. Throughout the game there's dozens of instances where the Joker almost seems to WANT someone to kill him - someone to make the madness end. It almost seems that he WANTS to die. That he couldn't care less what happens to him - even the money doesn't seem to matter. He just want's to paint a big enough target on himself to get taken out in a blaze of glory spectacular enough to be remembered so that it will all finally be over. And when things keep escalating - and he STILL isn't taken out - and he KEEPS ON WINNING - he loses control and the laughter and insanity give way to psychotic rage. Especially when Batman saves him - he's about ready to kill Batman right there. It's a very interesting take on the character. It reminds me a lot of the Joker we saw in Alan Moore's 'a killing Joke' - especially Joker's ending speech in that comic. "All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy. That's how far the world is from where I am. Just one bad day." - the bad day happened... it's just kept on happening. And on and on getting worse and worse and he just keeps having to laugh at it - which is probably why THIS version of the Joker is so fixated on Batman. At 21:30 he starts ranting about what a lost cause he is - but that Batman still has hope. And the Joker has a lot of hope for him. Hope that he'll end it - hope that he'll stop it - hope that he'll become just like the Joker and it will all be over.
That's jokers only known motive, only known goal, is to die. Literally the only thing he wants more than anything is for Batman to be the one to kill him. Joker and Batman's relationship is very complicated.
And at 17:55 gah, just look at him. He's so excited to die! It's like he's been working on this ever since he got to Blackgate, and he's just thinking he's found a way to make this guy kill him. Once this fails, he' wants it all the more.
Do you wanna know why I use pies? Cakes are too quick. You can't saver the little taste sensation. You see when force to choose cake or pie, people show you their true taste. I am nothing like you, you're a psychopath who bakes for money.
It’s amazing how this game shows when joker and Batman’s obsessive relationship started, like for joker it was when batman saved him from falling - he was so intrigued by him. And Batman was when he was in the hotel looking for him and was witnessing his insanity
Man oh man did Troy do a good job. Definitely took a lesson from Mark, and he learned it soooo good. Yes, it's the same basic voice, I mightn't find the difference if I didn't know better, except Troy sound fresher, more excited, like Joker is excited to be getting into this new arena. More carefree, more disregard for life (especially his own. Before he figured how special Bats is to him, he didn't really care who off'd him. that changes of course) And dayum, J looks hot. And as always, fuckin hilarious.
This Joker is the perfect Joker, as Dangerous and dark as Heath Ledger's Joker, yet still comical and funny sometimes. He's also a mastermind and an intelligent villian in this game, which is what the Joker is, the joker is also a mastermind of crime, I have never seen the joker in the movies to be the one behind the mask, running someone's operation without getting revealed, that's what the joker is all about. Nicholson got the humour and comical side of the joker right, Heath Ledger got the dark side of the joker correctly and also some jokes, but none of these display high ability of a mastermind criminal, I mean sure Heath ledger was still a mastermind, but technically this joker managed to be more of a mastermind in crime. Also I like the fact that they made him more violent, since the joker here is younger, that was an excellent move.
This joker would easily beat both nickleson and ledger jokers, he's darker more aggressive and more more dangerous, he has more energy, he's more intelligent and more evil and has more energy.
Precisely the joker is supposed to be a combination of silliness and sickness like the mask the only difference one uses what he has for good and the other for bad which is a combination the live action failed to balance jack got the silliness heath got the sickness but origins joker got both even managed to be more of a criminal mastermind than both combined imo this game has the best written depiction of both batman and joker comics aside.
Joker's a psychopath, which have a ridiculously high pain tolerance. That, or he doesn't care about the pain. I thought it was awesome that joker was alive after that beatdown, in real life it could kill someone.
***** Ima still trying to find out how he could still laugh after that beatdown lol but joker has always been a tank. He could street fight but he always took a blood drawing bone cracking beaten and still laughed.
tonydeadlock Let's also take the fact that if anyone were even beaten down like that, they wouldn't be able to breathe any good. I think Joker should've been laughing but while gasping and coughing, would've totally sold.
Yea that's what normally happened in the animated series lol the missing tooth joker laught. Batman would gut bunch the joker mid laugh so it would sound like aaaahhhhahaaah...Ooooooaah then spits out tooth.
3:44 The joker: "mhhm this fruitcake Is fantastic Anyone want a piece?." Me: hold on stay there bro im on way there to get some right now...... *gets in BMW*
I personally find this Joker a lot more visually pleasing than the Jokers of the Arkham series. Particularly Knight and City. Not that I’m saying Arkham Asylum’s Joker was totally bad. But I just really prefer this one. He’s less cheesy looking and more sinister looking with a clown’s theme. I felt like the bright purple and yellow (🤢) suit was too tacky and the lighter green hair was too clownish. I’ve seen actually circus clowns trying less to look like a clown than that. He was too cartoony, which isn’t always bad, I must say. But this one’s look makes him more to be taken seriously and feared. Which is sort of what he wants. To be taken seriously in his sick jokes. I only wish there were more cutscenes and dialog from him in this game... I wish this game was a little longer... even if it is more of an origin story.
I see what you are saying. This one is definitely more grounded. I always liked the original Arkham Joker suit however because I found it really funny that a man was running around murdering people in the tackiest of tacky suits.
It is a pity that the Arkham series of games did not continue the stories of all these villains. And the joker in this part looks really cool, and not like a rotting grandfather with bald spots.
u know aside from the repetitive game play this game has one of the best stories its a great game (dont know why ppl criticize it so much ) arkham knight ftw though
The hatred of this game is an unconstructive one. The game being similar to Arkham City (gameplay) is NOT the reason to hate it. And I agree, the storyline is definitely the best one and also the most intense and psychological. And the Joker was far more dangerous than in previous games.
Amun Ra The thing that pissed me off was: No Bat-Mobile. I know we get it in the last game, but they still should of put it in this one. Or better yet they should of at least let the gamer fly the Bat-Plane. One thing that is bugging me is: Why did Batman bother saving Joker? He wasn't responsible for Joker getting blown off the roof. One homicidal life in exchange for the lives of hundreds if not thousands of innocent lives.
I’ve played through this whole game and seen all of these scenes, and yet I still find myself entrenched in this vid. Shows why the Joker is the best DC villain, and how good Troy Baker is at voice acting.
Joker, is what I would call, the symbol of despair hidden behind laughs never hiding what he truly feels. He wants to prove that there is no structure, order, rules and hope a city born into chaos. Batman, who cleans the city every night and gives hope to Gotham. fights against despair, like two sides of a quarter flipping onto the Two Faces of Gotham. Which side will land first? The perfect parallel of hero/villain.
Ok. This is literally my favorite version of the joker. Sure mark Hamill is the best but the introduction to this joker.. how it starts and shows the relationship between joker and batman is so perfect. A perfect beginning for both of them. Troy Baker did an amazing job
I like Troy Baker's Joker, not as much as I like Hamil's but you must think, Troy's Joker is just supposed to sound like a younger version of Mark Hamil's Joker. After all, you can't spell Arkham without mARK HAMil.
The Mad Hatter actually, you can spell Arkham without Mark Hamill, because the “MA” and “ILL” are not in “Arkham” You can’t, however, spell Mark Hamill without Arkham.
Troy Baker is excellent as the Joker. It's difficult to tell the difference between him and Mark Hamill. If you didn't know any better you certainly wouldn't be able to tell this is the same person who currently voices Hawkeye.
This had to be the most terrifying Joker reveal. This isn't a Joker gone to seed. This was a Joker in his prime, ready to mess you up big time for not getting the punch line. "CAN'T. YOU. JUST. PLAY ALONG?!"
This game may not have been quite as good as the mainline Arkham games, but the almost comical, snappy animation style of Arkham Origins is truly memorable
i love how in this game, they show how joker really became the joker, coming into play when they made him pose as red hood, then he just went crazy out of betrayl
This story has aged really well and it has one of the best narratives of the Arkham series. The Batman/Joker dynamic is the heart of most great Batman stories and this one puts an awesome spin on it. Seeing Joker find a new lease on life after Batman saves him was fantastic. And making Joker the subject of the signature dream sequence was awesome as well.
I just realized during Harleys evaluation scene that she thinks Joker is talking about her throughout the dialogue but in reality Joker is talking about Batman.
James Kaplan Yeah it's kinda creepy . When you realize that Joker is actually right, it's kinda like *SPOILERS* when your parents tell you that Santa does not exist, but much worse .
I swear Troy Baker is one of the best voice actors of our time. One doesn’t simply play Red Hood, Joker, and Two Face in the sane franchise and NAIL all three!
It's not because of age.. Origins just had the best character models out of the original 3 games. Their batman, joker, bane and croc all looked way better and different than they did in the first two games.....And it hasn't been 20 years... Origins takes place 2 years into Batmans career... Asylum takes place 9 years later... Arkham City takes place 18 months after Asylum.
@@crazytrain111 I honestly like Croc's design from Asylum/City better than the Origins one, but I agree with the rest. my pet peeve is that people always seem to get Bane's mask wrong. if they'd put actual red visors on it, 10/10.
