Joker: Folie à Deux Movie Review 

As soon as they announced that this was gonna be a musical I said "no thanks." & everyone has been saying that the movie is 🗑️. I knew I made the right decision.

I saw this buffoonery of a movie today and immediately said to myself, “I CAN NOT WAIT TO HEAR WHAT TONY BAKER GONNA SAY ABOUT THIS!!”

I refuse to pull up to this, but I'll always pull up for you, Tone!👏🏾🤣

I’m ready for you to flame this movie to pieces 🍿

Man if they turned Aliens into a musical I'm pulling up, I'd pay to see the aliens doing dance numbers and "bursting" into song. 😂

I did not mind it. Some of the musical stuff was part of what was going on in his head. This movie was about his mental illness. Also it did go into what happen to him. His mother’s boyfriend use to abuse him. And his mom who adopted him abused him too and lied to him. The first one was different so i don’t understand how people didn’t think this was going to be outside of the box.

The fact that they kept trying to hide the fact that it was a musical means that somebody knew it was a bad idea but the first one made so much money they didnt wanna interfere with the director. WB showed restraint the one time they shouldn’t have

It’s cost $200million for a movie with 3 locations!? Really? An average episode of Different Strokes had 3locations! Why do movies need to cost so much these days?! Furiousa cost more than the first 3 Mad Max movies combined! Why? It’s Mad Max! All you need is cars, stuntmen & and desert 🤷🏽‍♂️

Not a movie but the switch up in the show Barry - from comedy/drama to thriller/drama. They did it perfectly.

Did you ever get around to checking out "Dancer In The Dark"? It bills as the first depressing musical. It's pretty good. I'm not a fan of musicals either.. I even thought my brother was pulling a fast one when he told me this new Joker flick was going to be a musical: Hm. Whenever a movie doesn't have a sequel planned but makes so much money that they make a sequel, it's sketchy. When that movie is now a musical, I'm out.

Emergency Awesome is a RU-vid channel that explains why Todd Phillips (as well as Joaquin Phoenix) went this direction. It's actually a cinematic protest cuz Phillips stated that he never wanted to do a sequel

First movie in a while where I was thinking about other things like “I didn’t put my oatmeal away” or “should I plant annuals in the front yard and back or just the front🤔”

I saw it and really enjoyed the movie. The name of it says it all. I means a delusion shared by two. The intro scene kinda explained the movie and shared a duality with those who saw the first movie and hated this one. The characters in the movie did to Arthur the same thing as people who saw the movie are doing to the movie itself... turned away due to the lack of sensationalism. I really dont want to give away the plot, but it made sense to me. Hopefully, you'll do a spoilercast on it.

I knew something was going to be off when it seems like the production time was super short. By the time you heard they were in production, they pretty much finished. Which told me they weren't going to have that many locations which meant the story was going to have to do the heavy lifting of keeping people entertained.

It's like making Ferris Buellers day of an action film 😅

Best recent musical was In the Heights. But even that was an adaptation of a stage play.

Not enough people are talking about it not being a good musical. Soundtracks in musicals are built around the script to develop the plot; they’re engaging and interactive. The musical’s in Joker felt more like a waste of time taking away from in-depth scenes than actual plot development. Nonetheless, movie felt more disappointing than actually terrible imo.

I considered Thor 3 a genre change. It went into the comedy route which was a very different direction from the previous films (especially the 2nd one).

I hated that it was a musical. After the 6th song, i was ready to walk out. Ending was the best part to me. Guard and his lawyer's performance was solid

This is the beauty of cinema. I absolutely loved this movie! I completely disagree about the musical numbers. Lady Gaga was amazing in this to me and I was captivated the entire time. I may be alone on an island but then again “That’s life!” 😎

I enjoyed it. The cinematography and performances were great. I also found the music entertaining. As you said it wasn’t a full on musical like West Side Story which I wouldn’t have enjoyed. I didn’t love the script but I didn’t hate it. I think the hate for this movie is way overblown. The fact that it’s CinemaScore was the lowest rated comic book movie is absolutely hilarious to me. I mean 2015’s Fantastic Four? Come on now. 😂

My wife and her sister went to see it and she told me point blank, "don't see it, you'll hate it, it ruins the first movie".

Why is Harvey Dent in a “prequel”? Aren’t the Joaquin joker movies supposed to be set in the past, he’s the inspiration for the joker that rises up to counter batman

People were literally walking out of the theater before the halfway mark, and I wish I joined them. I personally don't mind musicals, but the songs were boring and didn't do anything for the story.

I totally agree with you Tony I felt like my time was wasted overall. Though the acting performances were solid & it was visually stunning , it just didn’t do it for me personally. I do think this film will find its audience tho. 4.5/10

Worst gerne ever is musicals. First musical that comes to mind that I enjoyed was Dream Girls with Eddie Murphy and that was b/c of that "Jimmy Got Soul" scene.

A musical isn’t something they should just “side note” or sneak in lol It should be clear from the trailer, it wasn’t, that’s what you’re walking into. Let me consent 1st 😂. I watch musicals but i don’t want them sprung on me.

Word on the street is that they made this movie this way because the character of Joker was resonating too well with the wrong kind of people. So they purposely killed the character to stall any ideas inspired "Joker".

they knew this movie was going to be bad. They didn't test it and they did no press for it seems like. Usually you see the actors doing hot ones, or something else to promote the movie, but nothing for this one.

Yo, i can already tell by the thumbnail that this movie was boo boo 😂😂😂😂 I haven't seen the musical yet, but I think they could have included a musical scene in the movie, kind of like how Jim Carrey did in The Mask! Not the whole movie. Also, Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman was amazing.
