Dark Knight is my favourite movie of his. His performance is amazing. The way he mixes humour, horror, intelligence, confidence, playfulness, etc. is a joy to watch, and you forget it's Ledger in there. The film is entertaining enough for the general public who want a thrill ride but there's also a clash of philosophy's taking place within it that is very interesting to discuss if you want to get deeper. There's a reason the Joker seems angry when called crazy by a mob member. He's quick to disagree, because he isn't crazy. His plans are well thought out, he's steps ahead of everyone in the film, and it seems he's just taken absurdist/nihilistic philosophy's to the extreme, but both are well studied ideas that came about after a lot of thought and consideration. Order versus Chaos indeed. A psychopath, likely, but he is not deluded. There is a certain "madness" about him, sure. A crazy kind of playfulness with disregard for human suffering. But all this play is taking place within a plan he seems to care a whole lot about, given the effort he goes to. His playfulness is not to be mistaken with carelessness, which suggests negligence and probable errors. There are no errors with the Joker. He's maniacal, but methodical, and it's his understanding of other people that allows him to outsmart them. Details like this are also why I love the film. There's more to discuss than that of your average hero/villain film. With great acting, great writing, great music, memorable moments, crazy set pieces, and an unforgettable character, it tops my list.

It's honestly mesmerizing, to know there's a handsome nice young dude behind the makeup and terrifying performance. What's so interesting is that he looks old as the joker, his face is wrinkled and his hygiene is obviously non existent, but to think that the joker is a 26 year old dude blows my mind lol

@Enzo Porter No. I would say Heath ledger was a better actor over all, but the characters of the crow and the joker (in TDK), and the tragic circunstances of both deaths are very similar. Brandon Lee wasn´t usually as good as heath ledger as an actor (and he didn´t have the chance of working as much as ledger did) but he was as good as anybody else in the Crow, his last movie. Something special happened there.

No, turning Dent into a freak wasn't part of his plan at that moment. The point was to make Batman choose either one of them, so by not choosing the other, Batman would kill him, at least in Joker's mind.

@@Zerath0 Turning Dent into two face was definitely part of the plan. You need to rewatch it, making Batman choose was just a red herring made by the Joker, It was just distraction so that Batman wont be able to see the main purpose behind it and by that I mean the eventual death of Rachael because The Joker already knew in advance who Batman is going to choose thats the reason the Joker said "the way you threw yourself at her" He knew Batman would go for Rachael. Thats the reason The Joker purposely gave Batman the wrong location info of Rachael so that Batman wont be able to save her and end up on Dents location and when she dies then maybe, just maybe Batman will break his code and be driven by revenge to kill the Joker. This is what the Joker said at the final scene. "You didn't think I'd risk losing the battle for Gotham's soul in a fist fight with you? No. You need an ace in the hole. Mine's Harvey." "I took Gotham's white knight and I brought him down to our level. It wasn't hard. You see, madness, as you know, is like gravity. All it takes is a little push!" Dent is the ace hidden in the Jokers sleeve and that gravitational push is the death of Racheal. When the Joker said "Do I look like the guy with the plan" he is obviously lying because he is both a psychopath and a sociopath with a genius intellect. It's his way of luring Dent into the freak show. Batman is playing the Jokers game thats why Batman is always two step behind. if you play the Jokers game, you play by his rule and what rule is that NONE and that game is rigged for Batman to lose.

But you know what joker's all plans failed because Batman doesn't became what joker wants and Batman became larger than life at that moment.

Not to mention The Joker switched the addresses on Batman that he went after Dent instead of Rachel and Gordon went after Rachel instead of Dent.

the joker realizes the worst batman can do is beat him and only to a certain point because batman's one rule prevented and protected joker from dying.

The actor of Batman said as he was hitting Heathe during the making of the scene, Heathe was enjoying it. That's some real joker vibes right there.

@@elijahmitchell195 dude. the main point of being joker is to literally abominate the world with violence and trickery. thats literally the joker in tdk. and heath literally indicates it clearly though his acting. i mean yes pheonix was really good. but despite on whos much more closer to the character, i'd choose Ledger.
