The unedited version of BB: ROTJ and B: MotP gives the closest marks that Hamill could hit with being a truly disturbing Joker. But as good as it was, Hamill's Joker was just funny, cruel and crazy. I even felt sorry for him when TKJ came out, cause I could tell again, WB ripped the stage out from under him in a desire to be more...I don't know what WB wanted TKJ to be, but they wanted more of it, and less of him.
