Does Boone know about the various "regular old awards" that get given out on Talkin Yanks? If not I think a funny trivia question would be telling him the name of an award and having him guess who won it and why
Spiralling off of Moylan's triumphant and celebrated BIP debut after his previous insistance he would never take part outside the booth: What kind of insane incentive do you think it would take to get Rosey down from the booth for even a few fleeting moments of athletic pursuits? Blackmail? A charity tournament and a heavy dose of guilt? Just cold hard cash? Surely whatever dark machinations are necessary would be worth it in the end.
Is what's happening this week to Close Call Sports and Fuzzy with RU-vid monetization (bulk claims on past videos by MLB, and on the entire video, not just a section) happening to you, too? Both are temporarily stopping with new videos, and it seems like you've had no recent breakdowns, either. You've talked about these claims before, but this action by MLB seems super escalated.
Have you guys considered letting the top seeds pick their opponents for the playoffs? It'd make for some great drama. The wrestling-ness of the past few franchises make me think it could really work in a way that hopefully doesn't cause real animosity
On the podcast version of this I got a political ad for a monstrous politician here in Michigan. It was jarring to say the least. I have no idea what goes into dynamic ad placement but a political ad seemed out of the norm. Anyone else getting these?
Do you eventually plan to expand the "talkin" podcast brand outside of baseball, yanks and giants? Do you want to do all 124 big four teams or at least all 30 MLB teams? Like jack and zo could do red Sox, ryan padres, jolly mets, and shelfy Phillies... Do you also want to build up and expand to other cities and have like JM Los Angeles and JM Chicago? Kinda like barstool. I know it won't happen overnight, but just how big do you want the JM brand to go?
Hey guys, long time listener, first time commenter. I’ve been loving everything you’ve done with Ball in Play this go round. I know there has been lots of talk about the rules improvements already (big fan of the added boundary of the back wall), but I wanted to follow up on the merch. My question is: Where in the production process did the idea for this “quote shirts” product line get introduced? Are there any that feel/felt less organic than the others? Also, I imagine we may expect something similar for other “Franchise” events but I think “Captian’s” events end up having similar opportunities. Would the lower production budget be an issue here? Big fan of everything you all do. Jake sucks.
I used to work a 3 AM shift I regularly only got only 3-5 hours of sleep. I thought the lack of sleep didn't affect me, until I got a new job with a normal shift and started getting 6-8 hours of sleep, all of the sudden I was WAY less irritable and stressed. I didn't even realize how stressed out I was until I wasn't stressed. Added bonus of being able to watch a whole movie without falling asleep. Gotta get that sleep.
Carrying over from last weeks episode a little bit but it’s fascinating how your shirt merch operates. Recently on Twitter there was kind of a meme going around about how nobody would ever wear your guy’s shirts but the drop shipping manufacturing is a fascinating concept to me that I still don’t quite understand. How much of a profit do you guys make on average per shirt design?
Does RU-vid promote a channel more if they post more frequently. For example, have you noticed that RU-vid is more willing to promote talkin baseball, which has three episodes weekly in comparison to Mornin’ which only has one episode weekly. Would think you would want to promote the show that is going to bring people back to the site more often.
I’m not sure what events you were thinking about covering in the Olympics, but keep an eye on the throwing events. Over the past few years the competitions have been awesome and the American Ryan Crouser has thrown a World record like every season. There is a solid chance for some potential in men’s shot but also in all the other throwing events. I could go into much more detail for the rest of them if you were curious but that would make for too long a comment.
Does your line of work put you on a path towards eventually being a baseball hall of fame voter? Or is that something you would be interested in working towards?
Hey i saw that Zoe is doing some basketball breakdowns on reels. was that a desition you all made to pull in more audience? or is that something Zoe was doing for fun/for the reels push?
When will you guys put in some type of better flooring in the warehouse? Some solid wood would be a great look, but some of that rubber turf would be safer for injuries.
Would you ever be open to letting fans create games for the warehouse or suggesting ideas and then combining them to make games out of them? Might be easier than coming up with something completely brand new and fans would have some skin in the games by helping create them!
I bought a jomboy media all star jersey from when the all star game was in Colorado and I remember jimmy saying if he ever saw anyone wearing one he would buy them a beer. Has anyone taken him up on his offer and what are his most memorable moments of meeting fans of the show in the wild?
...and thanks for answering my question. Coincidentally, after you talked about being anxious doing live Cricket commentary, CPL posted a video offering people a chance to try out to be a broadcaster.
Jimmy, you should be able to watch all/most of the Olympic events live on Peacock this year (they did that for the last summer & winter Olympics at least), and I'm sure NBC will air bigger events like swimming and track & field live on their daily broadcasts because the time difference isn't as dramatic as it has been.
Hey, it’s Bob the Talkin Knicks fan, listening to this show helps give me some insight on how much work you all put in putting out all of your content. The Knicks aren’t in your wheelhouse but when you do the shorts they’re really good and I think they do well. I can’t understand the time and energy you’re putting into cricket and other fringe sports you do and don’t have a regular Knicks pod. Jake, BBD and Matty are fans I think, why aren’t they pushing for something? Love hearing about your kids and family, brings me fond memories
I recently watched Grown Losers and thought it was awesome. How long did it take you to write / edit that series? Would you consider doing more scripted sitcom-type shows in the future?
Considering stuff like the Open Championship, Ryder Cup, French Open, Wimbledon, etc. are aired live (some of them by NBC, in fact), I would anticipate mostly live broadcasts for the Olympics with the usual major events nightly recap show on the main network.
giant 3-player pickleball but the third player has one of those ball in play bat and can try to hit the ball for a boundary to immediately gain OR lose a point
concusions are way easier to get than people think ande with an impact like that you probably did. you dont even need to hit your head to get one, you can get punched in the gut and get a concusion.
Those ad reads are my favorite ever... a few months ago you asked us to put our favorite eps in the comments and I put that episode specifically for those ads lol
