How the hell this guy has not won an Oscar for music or at least scored some blockbuster movie soundtrack is beyond me. He is a complete genius and a true master of his art! Best show I have ever been to in my life
It's because people like me and you and Jon Hopkins are all on the same wavelength with music genius, I prefer that he is still a bit underground the gathering of the tribe are all on the same wave length, this life and the next in the outer verse!
That drop at 35.15 mins got everything in the universe dancing. Thank you Jon, you are a legend. Thanks for posting this live set too. Midnight and Light Through The Veins are phenomenal!
I was at Glastonbury '15, sadly Jon's music wasn't an integral part of my life back then. Making up for it this Sunday at Shepherd's Bush Empire - I can't put into words the anticipation I'm feeling to see this man live 💚
I'm the same way. For me it was 2021. Now I'm basically obsessed. I'm trying to find other like artists but I don't find anything that comes close to his quality.
I remember this. My girlfriend and I had endured about 5 minutes of Kanye before we physically couldn't take it anymore. We ran up to the Park stage. She dropped a load of E. A few minutes after we arrived (38:52) he started playing Light Through The Veins. I looked up at the Glastonbury sign and faces around me. Realised where I was. Realised there wasn't anywhere else in the world I'd rather be. Held back tears as it reached its peak. Closed my eyes and danced.
lol I literally had the same experience except I took about 10 mins of Kanye, but you must have taken the long route around as I caught most of this set
I read your comment as the sun went low on another hot day in May, after five days of record breaking Bank Holiday temperatures, and my dog turned on his back, legs doing spatchcock and eyes lollin', and I heard the music of Jon Hopkins on You Tube at 128kb (oh my I love that lofi bitrate - so textured) and realised - this is my life, other people have realised this too but this is actually my life and the sun went lower (almost comfortably cool by now. The crowds on RU-vid cheered, the weird beginning bit moved into a promising Tangerine Dreamesque Berlin thing and the dog suddenly rolled onto his paws, looked at me and I just knew he wanted a pee, but Jon Hopkins was just starting. I had a bottle of Leff Blonde beer and just knew it was one of those Tuesday evenings which would be a memory soon enough, and then the beat stopped, the piano started, the dog pissed on the galley floor and I knew it was what it was, and what it was was what it was.
This was my first intro to Jon Hopkins when I watched it on t.v. and I've loved him ever since. There are no words for how his remix of Midnight sounded that night 😍
Well past retirement age - listening to this makes me feel younger - what a fantastic gift - thank you! Love those hula-hoops, much better than the plastic loops I played with. Trying now to regress further, perhaps if I turn the volume up a bit more....?
This is what makes the whole scene worth it , a truly dedicated artist to his craft, always making sure his sound engineering to be on point, this is PERFECTION 👏👏👏
Get it whilst it lasts folks! This gem has been taken down before and so probably will be again but it remains one of Jon's best live sets to date. The finisher 'R2' (58:08) is unreleased, filthy and beautiful ear melting magic.
Jon's new sets from his 2019 tour incorporates the songs from his new album (including a reworked 'Halo' (now called Everything Connected)) - it's as good as this set.
There is nobody better playing this kind of electronica than Jon Hopkins and Nils Frahm.. I used to think Orbital were the bees knees but they've passed the baton to these two incredible talents.... This is stunning.. Oh to have been there.
I’ve seen Jon Hopkins on loads of festival line ups and was like who the fuck is this guy never heard of him. But you’re 100% right when I listened to this he is definitely the orbital for this generation
I've been a big JH fan for over 10 years ago and I have seen him many times. I have to say that this is my goto live set. Witnessed this set at Pitch festival in Amsterdam and it remains burnt in my memory. Would like to add a couple of things to the OP. 1. If you are looking for the opening remix of Leo Abrahams number it is available on Soundcloud but nowhere else. 2. Everything connected is played twice here: first between the Leo Abrahams remix and We dissappear 03:50-06:00. It is missing from Melt 2015 set and for me is one of the best parts of this set: tres etheral. 3. The track from 30:07- 33:22 that transistions into a more familiar Everything Connected now, in retrospect, seems distinct and unreleased. Thanks for posting. Didn't have iplayer at thrbtime

45:34 I cannot tell you how much I buzz off this. I cant stop watching it! I watched it in my living room and so wished I was there at Glasto to experience this first hand. My TV was on full tilt, neighbours not happy but my God what a build up. Xx
uploaded like 2 years late but thanks, missed the chance to see him at Field day, sadly Death grips took priority. I LOVE JON 100% going to see him when he pops up near me!
I was there, right up the front. Everyone went to Kanye and me and a friend ran away to find this. Did not disappoint, incredible set and the atmosphere was crazy
the endling is soooo great: 1:05:15 from the smashing track "r2" to the awesome synth´s of "vessels".. with an awesome lfo... oh gosh..... i wish this is a track^^
This ending of Vessel is magnificent. Harass but not really repetitive wild beats and sounds going on for minutes, than at the and this nice pads fading in... Oh my god.
This guy is the great, great, great grandson of the future sound, we should play this out into the universe as intelligent life will relate to this human existence and unique experience.
if you put this same party and sound playing at Portugal you will see straight the difference of Spirit! I got something for your mind your body and your Soul!
Anyone can provide a tracklist or at least list a few they know? Shazam doesn't recognize any of them. Just: 20:50 Open eye signal 54:00 Sounds a bit like Midnight 38:52 is Light through the veins (see comment from danjonesdj) Anyone knows the others?
I don't think you can find it, he always edits his own tracks when he's live so it's different everytime. It's likely you can't find this version officially but you can download it from this mix using a converter and changing the convert parameters.
