I agree. I don't know why more vocal coaches on RU-vid don't react to her videos now--they did a few years ago. I think a lot of them don't know about her for some reason.
Unfortunately, Jona doesn't have that great amount of fans to hype her. But I think of Jona would continue her Jona Covers like her Never Enough trend, I guess she'll make her name loud again.
@@jmlspace2120 I think part of it is that she took about a year off in 2001, I think partly because of the requirements of the pandemic, and also perhaps some vocal issues, but that's my speculation. And then in 2021 she was largely absent from ASAP again, except at the beginning of the year when she introduced a new single, and was a judge on the lesser seen Sing Galing and Sing Galing Kids on TV5 in 2022. Since early 2023, after being a regular almost every week again on ASAP, I noticed crowds are very enthusiastic toward her, and her fans are very devoted. She seems to have the most consistency of any of her contemporary vocalists. Plus she's extremely beautiful and charismatic. She and Jed and Sheryn were on a three city, two state tour in February in the United States, but they played mainly to Filipino American audiences. She and the ASAP crew will be in California again in August for ASAP in California, which again strangely only seems to draw Filipino Americans and perhaps their American spouses, unless it is someone who is already a fan of Filipino singers. Plus in the last few years Jona has developed an excellent classical singing voice, completely different than her unique chest tone and belting ability. I suspected part of the problem has to do with the desire to perform internationally--Lani moved to the United States for most of her Vegas residency, I believe. I watch these shows like American Idol and The Voice here in the United States, and some of the singers are very good, but I always think that Jona and other Filipino singers would put them to shame. Here's one of my favorite performances by Jona that I only discovered a year or two ago for some reason, from 2019, since you're talking about covers. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fOitELGlNlk.html
Jona took time off to rescue animals. She built an animal rescue facility and has over 40 dogs and many cats. These were abused, or homeless, or injured animals that Jona cares for. A truly wonderful human besides being an elite vocalist and amazing performer.
@@marekanthony3935 Yes, building a shelter is the reason she initially used, but after a year or so she said it was only about 2/3 finished, and she ended up finding homes for the animals individually. She seemed to be having some sort of spiritual crisis, and at one point said she just wanted silence, and wanted to get back to nature and God. She appeared on Gary Valenciano's prayer program--I didn't understand most of what she said, as I don't speak Tagalog, but it seemed to be in question whether she wanted to come back to the business, but Gary was hoping she would. She does love animals. There's a cute video of her walking along a scenic trail that includes a clip of her lying down with some dogs who were licking her face, and she got up very happy.
@@srebaayao9616 I wasn't sure what he was saying, I thought he was saying GMA is better than ASAP because Jona started with GMA, but I see he's clapping for Jona, which I agree with--she's the best. Yes, Jona majored in classical voice at the music conservatory, but she left after only one or two semesters to pursue her career. The information that she has a degree is incorrect. Jona mentions this in an interview around the time of her classical performance in ASAP in Rome.
Flawless and tasteful performance of Bugoy Drilon and Katrina Velarde. I'm not a fan of both but I so love their parts. Jona, Frenchie, and Jason Dy also did well.
Probably, the best rendition of Blaze of Glory I've ever heard of. Peaking from second verse, Jed's low voice vibrato as always, Bugoy's deep aggressive sauce voice, how Jason played the notes, JM's "..but know.." yesss and Reiven delivered the final blow to it. Ahhhckkk have been replaying this part a lot of times already. Eargasm at its finest!🥹✨
Basta one of the best ito. Very good ASAP! World class!❤
She does look sort of like a fantasy warrior woman. I think it's cool. It seems Jona is pretty athletic, based on all the stunts she did when she was on GMA.
Sobra ang galing nila, ANG GALING TALAGA NG MGA PINOY, THE BEST, GOD BLESS PILIPINAS LONG LIVE PILIPINAS, THE LAND OF SINGERS,MGA GIFTED TALENTED PEOPLE IN THE WORLD!AMEN! AND AMEN! TO GOD ALONEALLTHEGLORYANDHIGHESTPRAISES!!HALLELUJAH!
Totoo hahaha. Simple lang. she looked calm and collected. And yung “baby you’re all that I need” niya reminded me of Morisette’s “Fly away …. Skyline pigeon fly
