Take a virtual tour of Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Kentucky and catch up with Kentucky Derby winners Street Sense and Nyquist ahead of this Saturday’s Derby.
I had the privilege to tour the farm a few years back, which included a tour of a broodmare barn. I was delighted to see that one of the foals I took a picture of when he was just seven days old turned out to be Essential Quality! Jonabell Farm is one of the best horse farm tours I’ve been on and made me a life-long fan of Godolphin racing. Go big blue! 💙
Ms. Sharp did an OUTSTANDING job explaining the entire breeding process and everything that goes along with it. I was extremely impressed with her entire presentation.
How often does Sheik Mo drop in to see his own American-based horses? I would love to visit your farm. I have a lot of stallion-handling experience having been employed by the Jordanian Stud that was based in the U.S. in the 1980s. Then handled a Saddlebred trainer's Fine Harness stallion. Then later, a friend's Arabian stallions. Some much easier to handle than others. Some of the Jordanian stallions were downright treacherous to handle. Others like one I loved Eiar El-Kheil was very laid back and easy-going. My friend who had several Arabian breeding stallions had one by Amerigo that was great to be around and calm and easy-going as can be.
Whenever he has time. Sales and Derby, he's around, but not accessible to the public. I had a small crossing of paths with him at the sale at Keeneland.
