It may take Manu more that a year to get ready. Jordan Mailata, lt, was drafted in 7th rd by Philly is the closest thing we have to Manu and it took him 2+ years and while he was a better athlete he had only Rugby playing exp, no football. The difference though may be that Philly actually drafted over Mailata with Andre Dillard who unfortunately got injured in 2020 which opened the door for Mailata to play. + Detroit spent a higher pick which usually means they have specific plans for him which like you say is to play next to Sewell. For reference Mailata was average after 2020 and elite by end of 2021 season so 3 years after being drafted which would be great.

Says who? How many 6'7" OG in the NFL. Hes a very good athlete it makes zero sense to just waste that without even checking.

@@jamesreed2475 A Pride of Detroit article that quotes Manu saying [the Lions] view him as a RG. In an interview with his old HC at UBC, the coach also mentioned sliding inside could be beneficial in his overall transition.

@@andrewkarn6963 that just seems dumb. You know how many guards his height are in the NFL right now? Why waste his incredible athletic gifts for his size by playing him at OG? Even if it takes 2-3 yrs teach him OT until he completely washes out.
