I just love how every new character they add in later seasons is so well thought out and fits with the crew perfectly. Max, argyle, the glasses dude here I can’t remember his name but I like him.. usually new characters in later seasons for other shows don’t feel right, but these guys are great additions to an already great cast
Reminds me when I was like 16 when I started smoking weed for the first time, I use to come back home stoned af and always acting like this while eating dinner with my family 😂
Maybe that’s why he’s smoking weed to help his depression, especially after what happened to his brother and friends in fucked up hawkins and after leaving his hometown and girlfriend shit I’d be depressed too and would be high af
@@RebeDrawsStuff I thought that also while watching. Him being high 24/7 is an unhealthy coping mechanism he’s fallen into. I’m surprised more people havnt caught on
@@hal7741 While I don't think it's good that he's smoking 24/7, there are worse coping mechanisms that he could've started. I'm just glad he found one that isn't really harmful
It’s refreshing to see Jonathan as a pothead, he was so intense in the first three seasons so it was cool to see him finding a way to chill out. I mean I know pot isn’t the best way to cope with stress and trauma but it’s still cute to see him being a goofball
Sadly I think they're gonna kill him off this season. It would allow Nancy and Steve to be together while still making us all very sad, and also hurting Will Byers again cuz that boy needs to suffer somehow every season
hear me out, if stranger things does spin offs, i want a full tonal shifted spin off where argyle and jonathan drive around in a van having adventures, and "Pass the Dutchie" needs to be the theme song
"His funny friend Argyle has been taking us to school. His hair is longer than mine, and he and Jonathan like to smoke smelly plants together. Jonathan says the plants are super safe because they come from the earth, but not to tell Joyce."
I love how she thinks that's totally fine to put in a letter, like the "don't tell Joyce" part wouldn't clue her into the fact that this might not be as innocent as he's making her think haha.
@@maddie8415 you have to understand her mentality and understanding of things is probably closer to like a 7-year-old than it is to a 15 year old my brother was six or seven I used to have him pee in a cup so I can pass drug test cuz I used to smoke
I really can’t stand that they didn’t make Jonathan and El have any heartfelt moments together like Jonathan has with Will. The Cali plot was a let down this season. Could have been infinitely better. They spent to much time with that stupid Russian story line
@@filthy0819 I honestly don't think her mentality is of a 7 year-old kid. How is she supposed to know about weed if she's been isolated for years? That doesn't mean El's not mature or intelligent enough as it's been shown she's capable of analyzing and deducing.
I see people saying "They ruined Jonathan's character by making him a pothead", those people are clearly just against weed and in major denial, because the fact is Jonathan is the exact kinda guy who would be a stoner in the late 80s-early 90s, especially after moving to Cali and meeting Argyle. If they had randomly turned Steve into a pothead, I could see the complaints as valid, but it fits Jonathan's character pretty well.
Thank you I could see that too and obviously he’s using weed as a coping mechanism not in a bad way because I’ve never seen anyone get killed by weed. He’s stressed and has anxiety about being in Cali and argyle kinda helped in a way. Plus Jonathan always had to be the man of the house dude to an absent father and this is finally a way he can in a way relax. But he’s still the same person just way more relaxed in a way
@@mizhydrangea685 Plus the weed might be medical because of the trauma from the past few years at Hawkins - Brother goes missing, sees his dead body, learns that it's fake, brother gets rescued, brother gets possessed but then saved, then a ton of the towns folk get possessed and turned into a giant monster made of blood, guts, and bones. Then after all that he is forced to move far away from his girlfriend... Yeah after all that I'd be a stoner too.
could be wrong but hasnt steve said hes done weed before? in s3 when hes drugged and in the elevator after being rescued he says “i told you dad i dont do drugs its only marijuana” or smth
My favorite thing about the van scene is it's two completely different vibes. The three young kids in the back were clearly upset and at unease. While the two older ones are just chilling and having a silly conversation.
Poor Jonathan, he needs years of therapy after the shit he and his family have been through but suppresses his emotions by getting high. Finally gets Nancy to be in a relationship with him and then moves while she makes googly eyes with Steve *again* back in Hawkins as he's running from the government. Just the worst imaginable luck so far.
@@mega6836 If I'm not mistaken she broke up with Steve because of Jonathan, so while they didn't kiss until Nancy broke up with Steve, the sparks were already there, also, Nancy returning to Steve must be because she feels Jonathan doesn't care anymore and is trying to direct those feelings of hurt inrmto a familiar source
You're going to Alaska?! - Jonathan High AF Buyers. This acting is pretty damn spot on. I really find myself wondering if they were actually high since it's legal.
@@kingrampage3305 yeah you can’t get high on sets. Very few times it actually happens. Legal issues and what not, an entire set can get shut down for a day or so if someone is caught intoxicated on set.
Charlie Heaton’s isn’t talked about enough. He can literally go from playing a Travis Bickle type serious character in season 1 then a funny stoner in season 4. Probably the best make actor of the series besides Caleb too bad the writers continue to give him nothing to work with.
Deadass they need to get rid of all the split storylines and extra characters and go back to the basics flesh out characters and relationships like in season 1
Jonathan trying to comfort El about the roller skate attack while high is such a big brother thing to do 😂 Meanwhile in the van, Will was wondering how he’s siblings with a roller skate attacker and a stoner 😭
@@fvnaticbychoice I think that may be the point, that he’s been through so much that he just needs a coping mechanism to stay sane. Who knows maybe it’ll come into play as a character arc in VOL2 of season 4
stranger things throws the most gruesome, terrifying, and also confusing death scene at us and then cuts to these two goofing around. one of the many reasons i love this show. makes you go from "WTF JUST HAPPENED" to "hehe stoner boys funny"
2:34 the way Argyle says, so matter-o-factly, "the brittanicas are there" like he fucking knows who the brittanicas are, like that shit was hilarious XD
As someone who smokes regularly I relate to the part we’re he asks for the olive oil but it was wine, all too much 😭😭, one time I poured an entire salt shaker into my rice crispys thinking it was sugar, even though it very clearly in bold red letters said “SALT”
I absolutely love this show and I love all of these characters, I hope Eddie and Argyle stay safe this season. blipblipblipblip BLIPBLIP BLIP BLIPB LIBP BLIP BLIP BLIPBL BLIPBBIBPILIP
“So…Jonathan, this means you’ll have to take charge while I’m gone.” “Waaaii…wha? What’s going on?” “Your moms going to Alaska.” “You’re going to Alaska? What’s going on in Alaska?!” “The Britannicas are there.” “The Britannicas?!” Dude this was amazing. Charlie slurring his words sounds a little easy to him
this is so funny specially when Murray says "still have no idea who he is" and the fact that Argyle doesn't introduce himself and justs talk with any RANDOM person like he even hugged Mike when he was on airport Argyle is so funny gosh i loved all new characters
It’s a shame the California gang didn’t get much screen time. They are my favorite!! I’m hoping to see more of them in volume 2. I’m loving argyle the most!!
Idk why but when they’re all about “plastic or rubber” at the dinner table, I love most/find most hilarious the “you know what, I’m not actually not sure” 😆
