John Hannah is not a comedic actor, but he was great bringing comedy to this movie. Johnathan was a perfect comic relief. He would have driven Indiana Jones insane if he was in that movie.
He's an amazing character, but ever since I read the fan theory that he's a WW1 veteran, who would have volunteered for the front and witnessed the horrors of war and his friends die, he breaks my heart
Which makes Tomb of the Dragon Emperor even worse. Jonathan barely did anything against the Chinese at the Himalayas, which is weird cause Rick would have seen Jonathan as a major combat asset (which he demonstrated well from both movies).

You're probably right in WWI if you were in Europe you either were too young ,fought or dead which makes me think every man in this movie under say 35 probably served
Jonathan is one of my favourite characters in this movie, but there was a Tumblr post speculating on his backstory. According to the theory Jonathan was a WW1 vet and hes a crack shot with a gun. As well as maybe having some survivors guilt, rather like Winston. Seeing friends die in horrible battles, hence the goofy stuff to stave off the thoughts. Not sure if this was even touched on in the movies, but its a fun thing to think about and makes Jonathan into an even more awesome character.
Why not like the other videos people post. The best of Jonathan. Or Jonathan’s most iconic moments. But it’s your video as Lao g as it has great content and no doom music we’re good. Don’t you agree in other movie scenes people post when they add doom music it just destroys the scene itself. I’ve seen scenes where people add that music and it will be so loud I can’t hear the dialog. I’m glad your not one of those people.
