I remember the first time I heard Jonathan Butler on the radio. It was March 1987 and I was so blown away I nearly drove off the road. He was like a breath of fresh air in the stale world of music. 34 years later and I still feel the same way. This is the music that will never fade away.
I've always loved this song ever since it first came out. It was an instant love. I have always been disappointed that it never became a real big hit. Oh well it's a hit to me, Jonathan. Good job!!!
That is a compliment, but the biggest would be to celebrate him in his own right.... not as a "version of someone great". I think that by now his one of smooth Jazz music's greatests... period!
Finally got to see JB live recently. He is truly the real deal. One of the few who is even better live than on vinyl. Influenced by George Benson no doubt, but an absolute talent in his own right. See him at least once in your lifetime!
...never forget seeing Jonathan Butler at the Beacon in NYC! It was Valentine's Day and he was there with Al Jarreau, too! Magnificent artist. We were blessed that he was part of that night, sharing his gift with us all!
i *ahem* borrowed my mom's cassette tape of this entire album. i never told her it broke. O_O LOL...this is one of my fave albums. ALL of the songs are the jam!
Holding On To Those UCSF Med School Days Just like Holding on to Those Soft Water Balloons of Tracy Banks M.D. has Ambrosia -like Reminisces of a a Past Love which has JB and Myself saying Tracy's name in the midst of/While making love to another woman. Yes I did buy The CD. Highly Recommended !!
